Got the drift HD 170 now need the help from the experts

Okay have some questions on your drift do you store whole files or just clip out parts? If the latter how do you do that? Save what you want and erase


the rest can't figure out how to do that one? Or do you use multiple SD cards for storage? External drive for storage? Big help thank you very much. Many questions to understand this thing I am determined to have this operating before I leave for Spyderfest so thank you for your contributions

I take a netbook with me on large trips. I use it to plan routes on my GPS and store all the pictures from the Drift camera so I can clean out the SD card when it gets full.

I would recommend a big SD card so that you don't have to sweat it. A 16GB card will hold hours of 1080p footage, and even more at 720p. Eventually you will have to transfer the files to your PC via the USB fireware cable. If you are short on storage on your PC, you can move it to an external hard drive. I have a 1 TB external hard drive (cost me $100) that connects with a USB cable. I pull stuff straight off the Drift on to the external hard drive, and then I delete everything off the Drift.

don't record at 1080....no need...you won't be able to tell from the 720 anyway...plus, with the stealth drift HD, you have 170 degree viewing vs. 120ish with the 1080...

You might want to use the photo mode or continual photo mode to save space on the card.

I wouldn't go with anything below a 16gb card...get on amazon cheap...

I just took mine skiing...will put the handlebar attachment on for the bike...

Wait, did I read that right? You can plug a bit external drive directly into the drift and copy the movies off?
I gotta try this...

I agree... except if you do any editing that recompresses it, 720 goes bad real quick... 1080 handles a few edits better... this is especially true once you upload it to youtube.

But for the most part I do 720p and just upload everything unedited

No. Plug an external hd into your computer.

Yes, the pirate is right. But I disagree about 720 vs 1080. They do look different. 720 gives you more of a fisheye effect. Also, 720 @ 60fps looks different than 720 @30fps also due to the angle. Play with them all and see what you like. Personally, I like to mix them up.​
