There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. So my RT-S been in the shop another week to see why it only talks to me thru the fairing speakers. It's an on going issue. I'll talk to the mechanic tomorrow when I pick it up but it seems that you have to have the audio settings just right or it won't work right. One of the settings is the CB squelch I had set high because that's the only way I know of to shut the CB off if you don't need or want it on. There is no power switch! Another thing was the AVC needs to be set at medium not at high as I had it trying get it to work, which never has as far as I can tell. I paid two grand for this this terrible audio system that has never worked and way to complicated to operate. I'm so frustrated with it that I'm about ready to unload it and I went on line and started checking out Gold Wing trikes. Right now I wish I would triked my '02 like I was going to do originally.

Hi Phyl,

A few thoughts from my experience with my 2010 RTS and the Radio/CB/Comm/XM/GPS system I have. First, the CB can be turned off by highlighting the Squelch bar, and then pressing and holding the down button. After a few seconds, the CB will be turned off, and "OFF" will appear to the left of the squelch bar.

Second, as far as the AVC, I too have always wondered if it works, as I never seem to notice any difference in volume adjustment regardless it's setting or which input (radio or MP3 or anything else) I listen to. Small matter as far as I'm concerned, as the rest of the system works well for me, particularly the comm and CB system.

What year is your Spyder? I'll be curious to see what you find as the tech gets into your machine. Good luck with things!

:agree: on the CB off issue. My AVC works as designed. The setting adjusts how loud the sound gets at highway speeds.

Tell them to replace the CB antenna and ground strap. That was BRP Spyder Support Tech's fix for sound only going to the front speakers and not the headset, even when the front speakers were set to off. It worked. If you need anything else, just PM me and I will send you my number.

Duh! I guess I should read that little pamphlet they give you more closely. It's right there in black and white "long press of down button" with the squelch selected turns the CB off. Gave myself a dope slap to the back of the head on that one.
Mine is a 2010 also. Why the squelch and AVC settings have anything to do with GPS sound coming thru the speakers is beyond me. I'm to pick it up tomorrow or Monday depending on the the weather and I'll go over every setting with the tech and report back. But I'll bet it'll switch from the headset back to the speakers on the way home. It did the last time.

Update:
Picked up the RT late Saturday and had long talked with the tech. According to him everything uses the CB!? Any way he turned squelch down to abt mid level and the GPS was working fine thru helmet. But as expected when I got on it also worked thru helmet until I pulled out on the road. I got going and the instruction from "Silicone Sally" was thru external speakers! I tried several different settings on the way home but never could get it back to the helmet. I will call the dealer and BRP on Monday after I've calmed down over the weekend. It's not a limp mode or throttle body issue like others have had but really annoying when little gremlins like this pop up.

Mine was in the shop over a dozen times and took almost a year to get the gps resolved, but BRP finally figured out and haven't had a problem with it since.

Update:
I called BRP this morning and was told I need to take it back to the dealer again and have them call Tech support with the case # and work with them on a solution. I told the rep that I was not willing to give up my RT-S for another week which it always takes them to look at it with the # of riding days dwindling down. She said there was no indication in the case file that indicates the dealer tech called BRP last week when he worked on it like I told them to. I tried to call the dealer but got put on hold and gave up waiting after a few minutes. I'll just stop by Thursday when I'm out and about.

Not into sticks.
I did get another call ( voice mail actually) from Lynn at BRP. She said she spoke with both the tech & the service manager and they want it back at the dealer over the winter when they have more time to work on it. They think it may be the settings which I didn't change, a malfunctioning CB unit or a wiring issue. Not thrilled about leaving it there for another 3 or 4 months. I'll be over that way Saturday so I'll stop by and talk with them again. My plan is to ride it two more seasons and trade for a '15. Maybe they'll have it fixed by then.

Changing the CB antenna, cable, and ground strap should only take a few hours. It's too bad that they squeeze you in between jobs.

Not the best way to "shut off CB" but I just run the volume down to zero and have no problem. I then have instant CB if needed. NOTE: BR1 CB is 30% as good as my 11 year old Wing....

I triked '02 "Punkin'" in '05....best move I have made in years..... JMHO

Since its pouring rain here at Spyderfest I might as well post another update in this continuing saga. I took the Spyder in for spring service and have them fix the GPS issue per direction from BRP. Their idea of a fix was to replace the CB unit. Since they failed to work on for the week we were outa town there was a rush to get everything complete so I could get on the road to Spyderfest. I didn't get it back until late Saturday and didn't have a chance to test the GPS prior to leaving on Monday. Needless to say that Silicone Sally is still yelling at me thru the front speakers. Another call to BRP is in order as well as another trip to the dealer who want to to keep for another 2 or 3 weeks. Wish we had a dealer like Pitbull in Toledo!

While at Spyderfest can pitbull fit you in, another pair of experanced hands may fix it quit quickly.

You should also have plenty of spyder lovers close by with similar setup to compare settings

They already got me in yesterday when I found a piece of metal in my rear tire. Replaced it in less than 2 hours once they took into the shop.
