Looking for a handgun cheap to shoot easy to clean take in the woods small game
but also conceal for my spyder trips.

Any sugestions

That'll be tough to do, small game like rabbits and squirrels will be pretty much blown up by anything bigger than a .22 and while .22's are cheap to shoot and can very accurate they are a poor choice for personal defense, still better than a sharp stick though. 9mm is cheap to shoot and a good choice for CC, but would be tough on small game. I'd look at something like a S&W 317, very light and accurate, my wife has one and it's a really well made revolver with good adjustable sights and a decent sight radius and yet small enough to conceal. Next would be Ruger Shopkeeper.

You can pick up a used Ruger MKII pretty cheap.
The 5.5" Bull barrel configuration is well-known for it's accuracy.
Put a Dot-Sight on it, and a little bit of trigger work: :yes::yes::yes: :clap:

Very interested in this thread. Since I have legally been a concealed carry holder for the past year, I have been looking for the same. I was leaning towards a .380. I had one back in the day, but have since narrowed my line down in the handgun category to a sweet 9mm, a .22, and 2 other small caliber hand guns. I also would like something easy to clean and easy to conceal. No small game hunting for me, except with a shotgun or my dad's old .22 long rifle.

I've got socks that are over 21!! :banghead:
I shot a Ruger competitively for over 20 years. I eventually switched to an S&W model 41, and finally to a Walther GSP, in an attempt to "buy higher scores...." :dontknow:

But I shot my best with that cheap little Ruger! :thumbup:

Throw it in your pocket, and forget that it's there!

They make a .380 version, but the recoil is a bit stout for most folks.

I just bought the Sig P238 in .380. Very nice little gun and accurate for a pocket pistol. Take down and cleaning is very simple. Fits nicely in the pocket and for 1911 fans it feels just right.

The Sig P238...

I just bought the Sig P238 in .380. Very nice little gun and accurate for a pocket pistol. Take down and cleaning is very simple. Fits nicely in the pocket and for 1911 fans it feels just right.

... is also a nice gun. I do like the 1911 style and it racks quite easily. I have shot this gun at the range and I like the feel and smooth action. Also a good choice. Remember that most calibers have a defensive round available.

Guns are like shoes, you have to try them on. Go to a good gun store, tell them what you want, then put several in your hand until you find the one that fits. This is like asking which tires to buy, everyone has an opinion.

My 22 is a Browning Buckmark. I think the new Ruger would be better now that the take down is much easier. As far as self protection, bigger is always better, but an accurate hit with a 22 is way better than a miss with a 45. Plus nobody wants to get shot.

go to your local gun range... some ranges rents guns .. that way you can shoot several different guns... personally I like Glock 9mm ... G26 is a great choice.. small enough for CCW.. yet potent .. I especially like the feature that the safety is on the trigger should someone threatened your life when seconds count there is not much time to fumble around trying to take a weapon off safety nor turn on a laser .. .. PRACTICE OFTEN . your life or the life of your love ones may depend on your ability to use your weapon..

Putting about a brick of ammo through one: every week, for about ten years: you get the hang of it after a while.
It becomes a labor of love! :thumbup:

I put over 500,000 rounds through that little pistol... :bowdown:
The sear broke on it at about 250,000, and it went full-auto on me at a match! :yikes:
That was the extent of the troubles that it ever gave me!

If you have a full-carry permit: no problem

NYS doesn't specify open, versus concealed carry.
