• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Harley brakes...

Mod Maniac
.... so here I am... thinking again.

At least some (most?) of recent HD's use Hayes Brakes, as does the Spyder.

I would bet (been wrong before, though) that the Spyder brake pads may not be unique to the Spyder... that the same ones are used on the illustrious HD.

Has anyone checked or cross-referenced the pads? There are tons of aftermarket goodies, including ceramic pads, for the HD.

Thoughts? If not, I may have to make a trip to the local HD establishment with brake pads in hand.

The rotors look similar to the 2000 up HD rotors but they are smaller diameter. If someone posts a pc of the pads I should be able to give you an idea if a HD pad will work. I have ran an independent shop that does only HD's for 10+ years so I should be able to tell by looking at the pad. My Spyder does not have brake squeal after I got some miles on it so I havent screwed with them.

Great! Thanks... I'll try to get some pics. I don't have the squeelin' either but choices are good.

Harley pads create a LOT of brake dust-if they do match up with the Spyder, Lyndall Racing Z-Pads are better.....

Thanks! My original point was that the aftermarket for HD is huge and should... maybe... hopefully... provide a range of options including ceramic and kevlar pads.

:agree:+ I get about 32,000 miles on my fronts and about 15,000 on my rear brakes on my Road Glide :spyder: has about 7,500 miles and my pads are toast time to replace already :doorag:
