• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Has anyone had their parking brake motor replaced? Finally resolved?

Mine had an intermittent issue that turned out to be a bad armature. They replaced it, but I am trying to find out what is the normal price for this; parts & labor.

I had it changed on my 2014, back about 8 years ago. It was under the warranty at the time, but was told it would have been $600 (+) back then.

I think the parts are almost $300; don't know what the labor charge is out there, but it's high around here, and finding a place that will do it right is even harder!!

If you have seen several of my posts recently you know I have not had a good few months with the Spyder. I initially took it in to have the shaft recall done. RideNow in Peoria got it in and completed in a day. I also had them look at an issue with my parking brake. This is where the SAGA starts.

Upon initial diagnosis, it showed there was a problem with the left handlebar switch. They replaced the switch and anointed it fixed. Well it wasn't. It continued to fail every so often, but not consistently. They found a pin on a connector that was suspect, so they fixed that, and again it appeared to solve the problem. Because of this they discounted the ~$800 bill 50%. So they put it on a trailer and delivered it to me (100+ miles) from the dealership. They did this as goodwill for all of the previous failed fixes.

But, while unloading my Spyder, their driver tore off my grille. So back on the trailer and back to the dealership. They ordered the new grill and got it installed. When they went to move the Spyder out of the shop, the parking brake malfunctioned again. After re-checking everything, they were at a loss as to the problem and had to get BRP involved. After several hours of troubleshooting with the mothership, it was determined that there was an intermittent short in the parking brake motor. So they replaced the motor. If they had charged me for the motor and all the hours worked, it would be another $1200. While they were moving it in and out of the shop, it seemed to have a weak battery, so they replaced the battery ($210 parts & labor).

All told, they replaced the left handlebar switch, a connector, the parking brake motor, the grille, and the battery. Because of all the trouble and delays in getting the issue resolved, they asked that I pay an additional $400 to close out the entire ordeal. So all told, I ended up paying for the handlebar switch. I thought this was a very fair deal, and will continue to use RideNow in Peoria as my dealer of choice. I will be in Phoenix in a few days for other things, and will pick up the Spyder then. So now maybe riding season is finally here for us.

Just got home from picking up the Spyder. All seems well, but I didn't realize how out of riding shape I am. It was hot (90+) when I left Phoenix, but in the high 70's when I got home in Chino. It is only a little over a 90 minute ride, but half of it is freeway with a lot of stupid drivers coming up to the high country. I was really happy to pull into the garage and get off. My neck hurt (not used to the weight of the helmet), my feet got hot in my boots, my ears were sore from wearing my earplugs (I was listening to music), and I was just plain tired. But hey, now I need to do some riding to get back into shape. Wife mentioned she wanted to do Glacier again (4 days to get there). If we do, I will want to do Beartooth & Chief Joseph, and also visit Yellowstone and the Tetons on the way home. Then she asked how far out of the way would it be to do Ouray, Silverton, and Durango? I will need a vacation for my vacation if we do all that. LOL

So, what did they do to it? And good luck it sounds like the wife has your next month booked!!! Enjoy, be safe!

They replaced the left handlebar switch, the parking brake motor, a new connector, and a new battery. This was all done after the recall, which was the main thing I took it in for.
