• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

As I am brand new to the forum, this may have been discussed previously...I want to pick up my new SE5 next week in Mich. According to the deminsions it should fit in the back of a pick up truck, has anyone ever done this?

It has been done a couple of times, but is very difficult, depends greatly on the pickup, and is frought with problems...like minimal clearance, loading difficulties, and lots of weight on the tailgate of a shortbox pickup. It is also nearly impossible to tie the Spyder down in a pickup using the approved method of straps through the wheels. Best bet is to borrow, buy, or rent a trailer, but make sure it is wide enough, too.

For those metrically challenged that'd be
length: 8.75 feet
width: 4.95 feet
height: 3.79 feet

I'd highly recommend a trailer.

I have 6'x12' enclosed Haulmark trailer with a ramp door. The :f_spider:'s front wheels will barely fit through te door opening. One guy did have his :f_spider: inthe back of a ford pickup at Gatlinburg, but I don't remember his name. He had it backed in with the tailgate down. I'd definitely get a trailer somewhere. If it were me, I know I'd feel sick if my :f_spider: would slip off of the ramp from 3' in the air. Just my thoughts. welcome

6x10 open trailer

the spyder fits perfect with plenty of room all around i have towed mine plenty of times go away :2thumbs:

welcome
If you have a pickup I'm guessing you have a hitch. I would rent a trailer if I was you. nojoke

welcome
6X10 Cargo Express trailer with ramp door. Real tight getting through the door opening but plenty of room after its inside.:2thumbs:

Uhaul rents a trailer that will work, 30 bucks a day. Before you take it, you'll need ramps, the standard flatbed w/ramps can't take a Spyder, the 6 by 12 double axle works fine. There are some self-loaders available for pickups, over 4 grand, but I wouldn't try to put mine in a pickup.

:yikes: I've seen people haul snowmobiles this way also. Not me, the thing is not made to go down the highway backwards. At highway speeds the pressure on that windshield can't be good.
When loading the Spyder into a trailer, crank the tongue jack up to where it lifts the back of the truck up a bit, it will help to reduce the angle of the ramp considerably. Spyders are so low to the ground even a low bed trailer can be a problem.

About 10,000 miles traveling with Spyder in the back of the Avalanche as shown in the picture above. No damage to Spyder from towing backward in the truck. It is strapped down very well with three(3) big car hauler type straps (one thru each wheel) and a fourth strap thru both front wheels to the regular Avalanche tie down points. Spyder probably would not move even if the tail gate support(s) snapped. :yikes::yikes:
