There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hi All,

I too have had heat/vibration/staling/overwhelming gas fume issues with my 2013 Spyder RT LTD. No help from BRP or the dealer. I have written 2 letters to the CEO - my most recent asking them to take back my 2013 in exchange for a 2014. I have also filed a complaint on the NHTSA site. Go to www.nhtsa.gov if you want to file one. The more that are filed, the more response we may get from BRP.

I wish I could agree with you, sir. It looks like you've done quite a bit by now - 2 letters to the CEO, a complaint to NHTSA. Did you get any response as a result of it?

In any case, I want to welcome you to Spyderhood and hope that all you troubles will be solved in a near future.

complaint

i suggest you call the customer support and open and get a case number like most of us have done, the case number is something you can build on and every time you report a problem use the number. good luck

I agree on calling BRP and starting a case file. I to have the heat issues but now that the weather is colder it's not a problem and i'm out riding, oh and freezing! I do believe there is a "fix" coming but have no idea what it may be? Might not even be a fix but a help, who knows?? I can tell you that under no circumstances will BRP take it back and give you a 14 model. The only way they will do that is with legal help on your part but I don't think that is the answer at this point. I am not happy with my heat issues but I understand they are trying to get the 14's rolling and I think some members on here have been told there should be some help coming our way by April. I'm content till next spring but I DO NOT want to tie up my whole summer with my new toy at the dealership!

Now I am thinking the these problem varies from different areas. Is it possible the problem start where the Spyders were assembled?

I did get a call from BRP in response to my first letter. They addresses some issues, such as the recall and a defective GPS mount. The service tech at my dealer said that the wiring for the GPS mount was the sloppiest wiring job he had ever seen come out of the factory. There were other things that I had fixed that I expected to pay for, but to my surprise BRP picked up the tab. Peanuts in the overall scheme of things. I plan to press forward with my case.

Thanks - I had not thought of that, and when the rep from BRP called me he did not suggest it. Gee, I wonder why?

You never know what can be accomplished by making a public stink about something, which I plan to keep doing. As to help coming by April, I wouldn't hold my breath. If they have soled these issues with the 14's, they have the fix already. They just don't want to spend the money, which affects their bottom line. That is all that Bain Capitol cares about, and they are the majority stockholder in BRP.

:welcome: For being a new member on SL I feel that your statement above is well out of line.

You are right in posting a complaint, in taking peoples suggestions about getting a case started. The Bain Capital statement kind of shows where you are really coming from though.

BRP is a reputable company that wants to do right by its customers. The issues with the 2013's are pretty big and are taking a lot of time--but they will have to be solved if BRP wants to maintain its reputation and customer base. A lot of us have given out a lot of rope to BRP to give them a couple months to get things together--instead of the daily rants by a few.

Sorry for your issues, but you will not find to many helpers for the law suit bandwagon or lets dump BRP and the :spyder2: brand.

Sorry... But :agree:
Why'd you buy one? Did you actually do any research on them before signing the check? Did you actually visit any of the forums? The 2013s have had issues that are VERY well-known and reported in these places.
You bought it; now you've got two choices:
Dump it
Give them some time to fix it

The choice is yours...

HEAT ISSUES ON 2013'S

OldguyinCT please be patient. I have a 2013 ST and had some heat issues at first. But I worked with my dealer and did some inexpensive mods myself. Now I am a very happy Spyder ryder. I am confident that BRP will come up with a solution as soon as possible. If not, they have a lot to lose with current and future customers and I am sure they are aware of that. They want to be profitable, yes, but they also want happy customers that will return for more purchases. Let's give them a chance.

:welcome: hope you and others with similar issues get things worked out. There's some sound advice above.

:chat:

If Bain capital bothers you. You may want to make sure you don't run fuel Halliburton played a part in extracting from mother earth.

nojoke

I have typed out SEVERAL responses to this thread.... and deleted them.... The 13 owners are the red head step children of the spyders... and are treated so by brp and owners of other year models... Thanks. We are still working on solutions, brp has no answers....

Yep... we bought one of the 13's when they 1st came out....so in your opinion.. should we dump it or wait another... unknown amount of time for a fix? I TRUELY hope they have the issues worked out on the 14's... You don't want to go through this!

Nov. '13 join date. Troll? :dontknow:

i sure hope lamont reads this post, i know most people on here have been here for a long time and most likely have met and become friends, but i think you owe a apology to the gentleman that you called a troll. lamont works hard to support this site and doesn't charge a penny for us to be on it, so when a new member asks a question he or she should not be insulted by the likes of you.

I started out on this forum in September and some of my first posts were about my heat issues, does that make me a troll? If I had not had any issues I would have been riding it instead of hanging out on the net looking for someplace to vent about my troubling new toy. Since joining just 2 months ago I have over 300 post now and not all are bitches about my bike and I have "chatted" with some really nice people and had some laughs to, been insulted on some previous threads and even got mad enough to quit this forum. However there is more good on here than bad and I have recently met some really nice people to ride with, Dave and Teddy (Cyncyspyder) invited me to join their sub-group Cincinnati Spyder Riders and invited me on a local ride. I have never met a nicer bunch of people on bikes, the whole time I was on a Goldwing forum I never got asked to join a club or group or was ever invited on a ride, ever! So for me this forum has been invaluable in meeting new people as well as a place to vent about a troubling bike so cut the newbe's some slack they could end up riding with you someday!

Hi Mark,
This member may have had the benefit of other folks' time with these bikes. You and Char got yours before the proverbial ... STUFF; hit the fan. With all of the online "chatter" about it; he should have been able to figure out that something was amiss...
Should you dump That ST? :dontknow:
I would like to think that I've learned a bit about you guys during this ordeal...
You've been in touch with BRPn and certainly have been trying to find solutions for this problem. (Please notice, that I didn't say "issue").
It's my completely inexpert und unqualified opinion, that the heat barriers coupled with the new body panels may end up being a very useful part of the solution... But I also feel that getting those panels to the affected bikes has to be addressed by BRP; and soon!
What else might be needed?
Perhaps a bit more venting of the bodywork...
Perhaps an electric fan to help keep the air moving in low speed traffic situations...\
