• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heat Issues 2013 Spyder RT

My opinion, only, so it doesn't count for much . . . My brake cable, master cylinder, and charcoal canister all melted and were replaced during the recall . . . I've received 1st degree burns on my legs, through blue jeans, from the heat coming up under the seat (by the way . . . in cold weather ryding, that "hot seat" feels pretty good, and with extra layers of clothing on, my legs don't get burned!) I suspect BRP is really trying to resolve this issue. The most difficult issue I ever had in missile maintenance was one that was intermittent . . . and that is similar to the place where BRP is. Not every 2013 has the heat issue, and that makes it harder to isolate what is causing the problem. The common belief is limited airflow under the Tupperware . . . but why do some Spyders not have an issue. As I've said before, the problem is most likely a combination of things . . . perhaps there is an assembler or two on their production line who is doing something wrong. BRP is in business to make money . . . as all businesses are, and, until they have a fix they know will be the complete solution, they are not going to simply throw money away with fixes that might work. I truly believe a fix is coming . . . I could be wrong, as I have been wrong in the past, but I much prefer living as an optimist, rather than a pessimist. And I love my Spyder . . . going on a 270+ mile ryde on Saturday with nine other Spyders! My Spyder loves this cold weather!

RE: Tough responses to the new person. I try to give everyone who posts, the benefit of the doubt before going on the offensive. I have been very careful about using the T word.

A lot of times it boils down to the way in which an item is posted and how it is presented to the forum. We are all concerned about the heat and other issues that happened with the 2013's. I came close to purchasing last year because I had to have a yellow RT. I just could not justify the extra money just to change colors. Many of you may even remember that once I made that decision, I asked for help in ideas to add some yellow paint to my current ryde. It never happened but I came real close.

My mind has changed about the 2014 RT's because they now have the new engine that I have been craving since 2008.

BRP has been slow to deal with issues, and most of us would give them a 5 out of 10 on that. I have been one of the proponents of give them a couple months moratoriam to get the 14's on the road and the 13's fixed. The daily "I hate BRP" stuff is not doing the situation much good. They are well aware that failure to find fixes on the 13's and sending out a bad 14 product could result in the demise of the line. There is a whole lot riding on this.

I have been a big supporter of the product, but have also stuck my neck out and said a few things when I felt necessary. I have the flame thrower burns to prove it. I am still believeing that the problems will get solved and the customer base will be happy once again.
