• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HELP: U-Haul Enclosed 6’x12’ - Anyone tried one? Any tips or tricks?

I need to haul a 2024 Spyder RT about 400 miles and I am thinking about renting one, with Menards 69”x14” ramps. I would appreciate it if anyone who has done this would chime in on feasibility, as well as any tips or tricks; or if anyone with a more suitable trailer between Rapid City SD and Billings MT would be willing to tow or allow me to rent their trailer.
 
I have a 6' x 12' trailer, and I have an inch between the cables that raise and lower the back door; 2 and a half inches on each side of the trailer. But that's my trailer, you won't know until you measure the trailer.
 
A U-Haul 6X12 enclosed trailer is not suitable for hauling your bike. Many years ago, I rented one and loaded my Goldwing in. I thought it was going to fall through the floor just sitting there in the parking lot! Looking underneath the trailer, I saw the floor is reinforced with very small aluminum hat stringers. Not nearly strong enough to support anything but a bicycle.

Fast forward... When I had a need to trailer my Spyder RTL, I looked at U-Haul trailers and could not find any that could accommodate the Spyder. I did find a rental at Tractor Supply that was open and the Spyder fit. It worked well for a 2,000 mile round trip, but I just can't remember the trailer make. Sorry for the bad news...
 
Yup - well, an F3-S. My wife hauled hers 550 miles in a UHaul 6’x 12’ enclosed trailer. But you MUST be sure to get one with the double swing-out doors, not the roll-up door.

Don’t just look at the door, check inside, it might have wheel well humps too. Definitely shop around to find a utility trailer or otherwise. It doesn’t have to be enclosed, your Spyder can handle it. Please do not travel with your Spyder covered - wind flutter will scratch the paint anywhere/everywhere the cover touches. Some have had to load their Spyders backwards, & removed the windshield for transporting. Read over your manual again for tie down points. Good luck in your search & travels.
 
You need to measure your bike and the trailer to make sure it will fit.
Also, note the location of tie-down points. You need enough space around the bike to strap it down securely.
 
After years of dealing with similar situations, here's the best tip & trick I can offer you. Buy an Aluma trailer with a folding ramp and be done with it. That trailer can be used for many other things besides safely hauling your spyder. And, you'll discover you have many more friends than you thought you had because they'll all be asking to borrow your trailer. LOL
