• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I bought the Leo Vince exhaust on ebay last week and finally got it installed today. All I can say is WOW!!!! My Spyder has grown testicles. There is such a tremendous difference in sound and appearance. I also unhooked the battery for a bit so the computer could reset, and it ran just as smoothly as before, but now it has some attitude. For anyone considering an aftermarket exhaust, I would highly recommend the Leo Vince! The db killer helps keep it from being too obnoxious and gives it a nice deep tone.:b2b:

Loud motorcycle exhaust pipes save lives! :2thumbs:
Yeah I know I am hijacking this thread - but seriously - Know anyone who was saved by loud pipes? All I want to do is shoot them. Can't stand the noise - besides, it becomes competition for my stereo. To each his/her own.

I have!

There has been many times that a twist of the throttle on my bike has "woke up" a sleeping cage driver and kept him from snuffing my lights out. :yikes:

Me, too. My Muzzy "horn" woke up the ditz in her BMW as she was about to rub me out and into a semi on my left. My feeble OEM horn would've been, well, a feeble attempt to get her attention. That being said, I'll be the first to admit that there are limits to how loud we could be. Waaaay too loud sucks.

One reason I would vote for loud pipes over a horn to save a biker from a crash is that the loud pipes are heard coming constantly. A horn is only used just before something bad can happen. If someone was riding next to you, they would be hearing those pipes and be aware of you. If you had quiet pipes and they started to wander over into your lane, you tooting the horn may startle them into a steering wheel jerk that might be towards the wrong direction. :yikes:

Plus the loud pipes work even if you don't see a potential danger, like someone not paying attention and doing something stupid behind you or coming to a blind intersection.

With the Spyder being my first on-road bike, I've never had a loud bike to compare it to in the past. After my ride today, it does seem like more people were turning their heads to see what was coming when compared to my previous rides with the stock exhaust. However, I think the Spyder gets a lot of attention regardless. :2thumbs:

I have tens of thousands of worry-free miles on BMWs, which are best described as stealth bikes. Yes, I have some moderately loud (stock) bikes, but I don't subscribe to the loud pipe theory. I prefer sane, defensive riding. Besides, even an F-15 is unlikely to be heard over a cell phone in someone's ear, and the stereo playing at OSHA danger levels. An inattentive driver will get you no matter what you ride or drive, or how it sounds or looks.

Isn't that why we have a horn?

Horns tend to piss people off - I like having a loud bike when I am in someones blind spot or when car drivers are distracted by all the crap and fun stuff that goes on in a vehicle/cage. I saw a woman putting on facial makup today in a suburban.... my Spydie sound got her attention:spyder:

I agree that in today's world of cell phones, talking GPS, radio, CD, DVD plus soundproof cars, being seen is more important than being heard. If they don't see you, I'm not sure loud pipe, horn or train whistle will work. I've seen drivers ignore sirens and flashing lights on emergecy vehicles while they are talking on the cell and bopping to their music. When trying to react to a distracted driver, you usually have a split second to decide if throttle, brake, swerve or horn will help.

not to mention the senior citizens

Especially if you live in FL or AZ or other areas which beckon to the blue hairs....

I grew up and learned to ride in rural FL and it was like a kamikaze mission every time you rode in traffic.

Don't startle 'em too bad. They have a tendancy to jerk the wheel when panicked. :yikes: roflmao :wrong:

New to this, what does it look like installed?

:agree: Right on Scotty. Loud pipes lose rights - we may like the way they sound, but please don't play the "safety" card. That dog just don't hunt.
