We've become accustomed to saying "Happy [holiday]". But Memorial Day is for remembering those who have gone before us and helped make our lives possible. Starting as "Decoration Day" for honoring the Civil War dead and now as "Memorial Day" when we honor our late service people as well as our loved ones.
I heard someone on TV say we should not say "Happy Memorial Day", but we should say "Honor Memorial Day" instead. I've decided to adopt that custom.
