• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I almost made a big mistake and posted a fake Spyder for sale

One of my co-workers came to me this morning and told me that he was selling his 2010 Can Am Spyder with 292 miles on it. I have been hearing about this Spyder for about 2 years, but I have never seen it. He never rode it into work because he did not have a motorcycle license. He said that he had posted it on Craigslist for $6,250. I told him was not charging enough for a 2010 Spyder and suggested that he create an account on here and post the bike, at that price it would probably sell fast! He told me he was not very comfortable with the forum thing so I offered to post it for him. I looked up his craigslist ad and this is what I found.

That is not a Can Am! That is not a Spyder! It is not even a motorcycle! Is it wrong that I am offended that he is referring to a scooter as a Spyder? He was upset when I told him that it was not a Spyder and I couldn't post it on this forum. I didn't mean to offend him, but really 250cc scooter verses 990cc Spyder. I sound like a snob don't I. It just really bugs me!

You need to tell him it's not even a Can Am. Roketa is a Chinese scooter company. He got ripped off. Imagine if someone tried passing off a Honda cruiser as a "Harley".

Don't know how much he paid for it, but I've seen them for around $3000 new. Not that they're worth that much.

I would consider than a scam posting if I had just happened across it. Your friend needs to stop calling it a Can-Am before someone just as uninformed buys it and then comes looking for him after taking it in for its 600 mile service.

A Roketa for HOW MUCH???? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflb lack:
Quite frankly; I doubt that he'll get it!
But perhaps P.T. Barnum was right...

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Heads would roll if you tried to pass off anything but a Harley for a Harley. I am just amazed!

He said he paid $5,000 for it but it was shipped for overseas so in total with shipping it was round $7,000. Not worth it if you ask me.

That's a good catch on your part. :roflblack::roflblack: I'm sure he had enough laugh every time he ride when claim a:spyder2:owner. He's probably waiting for his new gas cap forever.:roflblack::roflblack:I don't think it's worth what he paid for.:(:(:():

But on the bright side... :D
No DPS to require replacement
No sensors anywhere on it to quit sensoring
"Nanny" lives at a completely different address; she's not an issue!
Plus; it's just about ugly enough that theft shouldn't be an issue...

Gee... maybe I should call the guy... :joke::joke::joke::joke::joke::joke::joke: ;)

I've seen those scooters advertised.
As others have said, it's a knock off, not to be considered in the same league as a Spyder.
Chances are your friend is either misinformed or he himself got ripped off.

Having said that, there is nothing wrong with posting it for sale here with an accurate description.

My other bike is a Piaggio BV250 scooter. I love the thing.
Nothing wrong with riding a scooter.
There is clearly a place for those Roketa scooters.

It's not what you ride....it's who you share the road with.

Just my opinion. I could be wrong. I'm sure others will be happy to point out when I am.

I agree there is nothing wrong with riding a scooter, my problem is calling the scooter a Can Am because its not.

Top speed is 65 MPH, are you still interested???? I considered getting one of those before Stealth Billie, but nothing measures up to Can Am!

Riding a scooter for me is like driving a golf cart. You gotta do something stupid and abusive to it if you are really gonna have fun:D

But seriously, if I lived in a metro area, it would be a great way to make short trips around town. They do have their place and they can be a lot of fun, if you know how to build a good jump:2thumbs:

I have to put my four cents in here.
Two cents for scooters. You get what you payfor. a Honda Silver wing will do close to or over a hundred, same with a Bergman. I rode a Silver Wing at a indicated 90 MPH and felt comfortable. I just did not like the "step thru" design, among a couple other things. Honda demo rides have been known to use Silver Wings as escort for Gold Wings.

two cents ( maybe more) for that other three wheel thing. A "Dealer" (would not give a perminent address) was at Gold Wing Rally someplace, couple ? years ago. He assured me it was a "Can Am Spyder that was made elsewhere. He would not say where. He was letting people ride them in a parking lot. IMHO the best use for this is a lawn orminate. I had wondered about getting one to use to ride to work, only a couple miles. I think the cost was around four thousand, right there. I did get asked a lot of questions about my GS. The Rally "headquartes" asked me about the other thing and I gave my opinion, same as here. The Dealer disappeared in a couple days. I did not ask why.

Roketa owners actually have their own forum...
I'll see if I can find it again...
The comments on build quality were... ummmm... Let's just say that I'm glad that I've got my Spyder!

Glad you got the thing figured out. The seller is either very naive or very sharp. I am thinking on the sharpie side and that he is trying to make a couple thousand off of some unknowing buyer. Had you posted the ad for him on SL, I don't think any here would have flamed you. It was the seller that was misrepresenting what he has for sale.

I agree that these can be fun in the correct setting. I rode one before I was even considering a Spyder just to see what it was like. Up to about 50 MPH it was a blast. Over that, I thought I was going to die. Also, it could not be turned around on a normal two lane road even using both shoulders. I found out what I wanted to know and left it there.
