• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

i900 Alarm on 14' RTS

Question

stevedfive,
I'm also looking into the same alarm system. From what I was led to believe, there is an OEM fastener you can purchase from Scorpio that will cut down on installation. On top of that, it does away with having to cut or splice into any wires. I'm still on the Scorpio site, so if I find out anything, I will get back with you. If you find out anything before me, please post.

Before I bought the alarm, I talked to them on the phone. They do not have a harness for the RT. I had this same alarm on my old RT but the dealer installed it.

I talked to my dealer that installed mine this weekend and he told me that for the hot wire he pulled it straight from the battery. As for the turn signal harness it ties in under the seat close to the harness that is tapped for the trailer hitch. (The Alarm Module is under the seat opposite of the filler cap next to the helmet hook (2013 RT). I did not have the fuel shut off installed (Don't want it towed from the middle of nowhere if I misplace the remote)

Also the manual override does not work for the Spyder because of the LED Lights

Found his post last year but don't remember where i came from.

Scorpio I900 Motorcycle Alarm System Manual Override info:
Note: I could not find this info on the web so I'm creating this page to see if the search engines index it.
Having trouble with the manual override?? Well, here is some stuff to know.
1. The directions are completely wrong
2. The code is not determined by the flashes of the blinker!!!! I is determined by the number of times you turn the blinkers on and off
3. It is a 3 digit code only! not 4, as per the instructions.
4. You will never get the code to set or disarm if you you have light kit from http://www.customled.com/
5. If you do not set up the override, you will have no choice but a tow truck if you lose the remote.
This info should save your butt!
Update: Just heard back from scorpio alarms. Get this!
1. THE MANUAL OVERRIDE DOES NOT WORK ON ALL BIKES!!!!!!!!
2. He tells me that it does count the flashes, BUT, if the flashes are to fast (as they are with Yamaha R1) it will only register the first flash so to set the first code to 3, you would need to cycle the left blinker on then off 3 times (whish I confirmed works). This being the case, you will always have you 4th code set to 1 on a bike with fast blinkers.
3. The manual override does not work when you have certain aftermarket blinkers installed (which was also my case ALSO). Specifically, it will not work with my customled.com tail kit. This tail kit is a must have for bike owners BTW. I simply unplugged the blinkers from it under my passenger seat and sure enough, my i900 started to recognize what I was doing which brought me to the problem I discuss in the above #2.
4. Harley at Scorpio informed me that simply unplugging the HAR-1 from the MCM will reactivate the starter and disable the alarm system (but I haven't tried that yet). It makes sense since they know that the manual override doesn't work on all bikes.
5. outside of what I mentioned here, to quote Harley, "If you are following the instructions and are not getting a code back this feature just won't work with your bike."

Maybe I can connect where the trailer module harness plugs in. Can anyone point me to that location?

Before I bought the alarm, I talked to them on the phone. They do not have a harness for the RT. I had this same alarm on my old RT but the dealer installed it.

The installation of the alarm on a 2014 might be quite easy as the battery was moved to the front. The old battery compartment is still there but has the charcoal canister mounted there. I would remove the seat to allow you to have free access to the connector for the trailer module. It is located to the rear of the battery compartment by the connector for the passenger detect switch. There appears to be a ton of room here to a clean install.

If you look at the entertainment harness instructions you have, there is a harness that connects the entire rear end assembly (lights and everything) right under the panel for the passenger hand grip on the left side of the Spyder. 2 screws and you can remove that just like the right side where the radio is. The entertainment harness plugs between that connector so it is right there. You cant miss it.

This is the harness I tapped into for installing my Spy 5000m alarm.

I did have to probe the wires for a "key on 12V" and the lights. However if you remove the rear panel and look at the wire colors for the lights (that you tapped into for the Show Chrome lighting), they are the same color wires at this connector.

If your stuck I can remove my panel and tell you what the wires colors are for what I tapped into? Let me know. Maybe a get together this weekend so I can look at your Ent. harness for making my BT cable :) And I will help you get the alarm installed (I have all the meters, etc needed for figuring it out).

I installed one on my 2012 RT, and although it did not have an OEM harness, it came with universal clips allowing easy connections to the factory wiring. I found the wires I needed to connect to in the manual I bought online. I really like the I900, the motion sensor works well once you get the sensitivity set right! It has kept a few people from trying to touch or sit on my Spyder!:thumbup:
