• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

In new york for bike show 4 wheel can am spyder

Ya know, I've seen the 4-wheel Spyder conversions before, and while very neat, here's what I don't get: why?

You can't legally ride it on the street. Oh, I'm sure it's *ridden* on the street-- it was here, obviously-- but any and every cop can stop and ticket you for it, and realistically, simply impound the vehicle.

It's one thing to try and sneak by with some illegal aftermarket exhaust, or lighting mods, or something else that the police might not notice, or charitably ignore at a traffic stop.

But quads aren't street legal, and even the police can count wheels :joke:

Anyway, just strikes me as a waste of good aftermarket effort just to look pretty at bike shows :dontknow:

Inter city cops don't count wheels or care, Unless you get stopped and give them a reason. :ohyea:
In my town i would be given a warning first time , Next time impound. [even with a get out of jail card]
But i gotta admit i registered and insured my Rhino and will ride some local roads next to my club in NY.;)

Four wheelers in most states are illegal to run on the road. But it's my understanding that if you convert a street legal vehicle like a Spyder to have four wheels then it is legal.

I'm glad you can do so. I do know that some states make exceptions for four wheeled vehicles that include car- and bike-like safety mechanisms (headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, mirrors, and a horn)-- and Arizona allows regular quads on the road, with restrictions-- but I had no idea that Pennsylvania did. A buddy of mine in PA added all that and more to his Can-Am Commander and the DMV *still* refused to certify it as street legal... and he'd get stopped most every time he took it out even on rural roads (well, it wasn't like he was going to SELL the thing :roflblack:).

Like mxz600 wrote, I wonder if it's taking an already street-legal vehicle and modifying it that creates the loophole? :dontknow:

Well-- I believe --- and certainly LOU can correct me if I'm wrong--- but I think he is skirting by on this being 'legal' :

Get it street legal as stock bike. Convert it. DMV isn't gonna know what you did to it- as far as they're concerned it's still registered as a Can-Am Spyder - stock with 3 wheels. My guess is this is the only way it's still 'legal' and that if it were to be inspected--- by who I don't know --- it technically would not be legal.

----- and I also wonder 'why' would anyone convert one to 4 wheels. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me-- and not gonna corner as well.

Just my .o2

Is it just me...

Or did anyone else get bit queezy from watching this... with the wild camera motion??? I need a Dramamine!!

Add a top and doors and you have a smart car!! Of course in NY we can't forget seatbelts. :roflblack::roflblack:

Nice custom job on the spYders and the RZR.

That is one neat piece of machinery! Remember the other video of people's reaction to your Spyder. Too cool!

Could you bring it out to Spyderfest this spring? It would be great to see it in person. :)
