• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Installing a rocker switch USB C charge port - any reason this won't work?

I'm installing an inline fused rocker switch style USB C charge port. The center blank had a round hole, so I can cut a new one to fit. I have read of others having problems with the existing hole under the blanking plate being too large... but I'm feeling Lucky...

I am going to get my HOT wire from the fog light plug, the Orange-Red wire probes as hot when key is on. I think I'll grab a ground from a body panel screw about 10" away. I there any reason why I shouldn't do this?

I'm going to ponder the rest of the evening and plan on doing the job tomorrow, unless someone has a good reason not too???

Any and all opinions and options welcome... Thank You - Mike

Not sure what the draw on the fog light plug is, but those inline fused rocker switches with USB's tend to draw up to 6 amps (fused at 10 amps) so you might overload that line or blow the fuse. I would run a fused power line from the battery into a 20 amp headlight relay that turns on when the ignition is on. I hate tapping into any of the Spyder's wiring with high amp devices. To power the relay, you can draw off the lighted switch wire, since the relay power doesn't draw much. Then run the power from the other side of the relay to your USB switch. The nice thing about this is, if you run a 10 awg wire from the battery, you could run multiple devices, within reason of course.

Relay = (Pin 86) +12V Keyed (Pin 85) Ground (Pin 30) +12V from Bat (Pin 87) Goes to USB Switch.

Here is part of a wiring schematic I did for my High/Low beam LED running lights. I added an AUX switch where the blank switch was in the dash. I did put a fuse between the yellow dash light wire and the relay on my Spyder.

Just my 2 cents worth. :)

Mike
