Installing Headlight modulator in RT?

Lonlawrence did a great write up with photos on installing a headlight modulator. I got the same unit but the RT is different "under the panels" than the RS he was installing the unit in.
I need to know what plug I need to access or plug into? The owner's manual has nothing. I have a shop manual on my computer but that doesn't have a wiring diagram or shows where circuits are routed. The unit came with instructions for two wheeled bikes but nothing in there on a spyder. I sent a note off to Kistan to see if they had any instructions for the RT spyder. No answer yet?
Thanks

I got the electronic Version of the shop manual. I'll look again, but I haven't seen one yet.
Maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy the paper version from a dealer?

Here is what I'm looking at. The plug on the right locks into a hole where there is nothing in there...no connection. There is some sort of goo on the end of the plug. The plug on the left just has a cap on it. Since the cover to this area has a diagram of a laptop embossed on it, I'm assuming that one or both of these plug have something to do with connecting with a computer? In the second photo, you can see the Kisan Headlight Modulator unit that needs to plug in some where? Has anyone installed one of these into a RT? There are no other plugs in the area that I can see that match up with the Kisan unit.
I've sent an e-mail off the Kisan's parent company for an answer. There were NO instruction on how to hook this up ANY Spyder. :hun: Hello? McFly!
I have installed the light sensor into the grill of the left speaker grill.
Thanks for any help

The wiring diagram is contained in the electronic version of the manual. You are going to need it, from the looks of it.

Do not, under any circumstances, tie into the "laptop" BUDS connector! If you tie into the CANBus you are sure to cause nightmares...and probably kill your Spyder. The other connector is likely the "extra" connector for the European version of the lights, but I cannot tell from the photos. You need to look at the wire colors and the diagram. In any case, thisd is unlikely to be what you need to connect to anyway. Without the wiring diagram and instructions for your modulator, it would be impossible to say what goes where. Please be aware that it may not be possible to install this mod on your Spyder successfully. I don't remember anyone here saying they have done so. At any rate, when forging a new path, you can hardly expect either "plug-n-play" or the voice of experience to help you along. We look forward to the reports on how you make out, and you can then put together the "how-to". :)

Update.
Jeff of Kisan Electronics sent me three photos of a RS and how it looks installed. :hun:

I went in the garage and took some photos of the latch area of my RT. I sent them
to Jeff pointing out the difference of the two latches. Also that there is NO wiring behind
the latch area anyway. The layout is completely different.
I also noted that I had removed the fairing panel from around the headlights to see if
there was a harness that looked like what he has pictured. Nope, not there either? :(

The wiring diagram from Midwest Manuals is just that, a wiring diagram. I can't find any
references to where 'cannon plugs/connectors' are located or where on the bike the harness is routed?

So, I suggested that they do a bit of research on the RT model to see where their headlight modulator might
connect up in that model?

That's it for now.

Since BRP is unable to help with this problem, I went to a dealer today to ask them where I might be able to plug in this unit. We went over the wiring diagrams of both the RS and RT models. Seems that they are different and that the Kisan headlight modulator won't be able to plug into my RT. I will have to send it back.

From what info I got, the way the headlights work is different than the RS model. They seem to work through the computer than just the switch alone.

Got a note from Kisan and I'm sending the unit back for a refund. I so wanted modulating headlights!

Modulator

Thanks for the updates. I was thinking about taking the ones off my Road Glide and putting on the Spyder, but hadn't asked about how many complications I might have.
Guess I won't try that. I'm going to be in Kennesaw this morning at Freedom's. If you're out riding around, stop in and we'll walk over to Starbucks. I'll even buy, to help relieve your pain from the modulator episode. I'm the old guy wandering around trying to figure out how everything in the world has gotten so expensive!! :banghead:

Since I've sent back the headlight modulator, I decided to invest in some more TricLEDs. So, I've ordered the Halo System in Amber with the remote control. Just more lights up front and on the sides to let the motoring public see me a cummin'! :D
