iPhone 6+ bending issue

Anyone who keeps up with current technology will find this a bit disturbing.
I'm due for an upgrade and will be upgrading to the iPhone 6.
I wanted the 6+, but after reading these reports of phones bending I am about to go for the 6.
I know your not supposed to be putting phones in your back pocket or any areas that might increase damage, but I wonder how Apple will explain this debacle. What a let down.
