• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a Battery Tender Adapter that fits a USB port?

Found this at HD

I'm guessing it reduces the voltage.:dontknow: I haven’t tested, I have other methods

& an appropriate USB cig plug

It's a truck stop find; double light/glass breaker/usb charger W/magnet. Thankfully, I don’t “need” it, but it's handy when I want just top off a device or something.

They make some for the old cigarette lighter sockets which were 12v, but no such thing for the 5v USB ports.

Just a word of warning - I'd be very wary of leaving one of those ^^ plugged in ALL the time, altho plugging it in 'every once in a while' to keep it charged up &/or while using it for a short period might not be such an issue... :dontknow:

The reason I say this is that I personally have witnessed vehicles burning to the ground as a result of these things being left plugged in all the time - after some months of no apparent concern, they eventually fail, burst into flames, and the vehicles can burn sufficiently hot that they are totally lost. And this was not just one vehicle, or one occasion - I witnessed it happen to two vehicles on separate occasions, and both times we were too far from any fire service assistance that there was absolutely nothing we could do but to watch them burn!! :gaah:

After I saw the second one go up in flames and eventually worked out the cause of the fire, I did some further digging, and discovered that right around Oz, those 'cig lighter plug-in torch/adapter' things feature fairly often in the 'likely causes' of vehicle fires, especially if they've been left plugged in for some time... :banghead:

Don't try pushing 12v backward through a USB port. You won't like the results.

And :agree: with that ^^ too - see the 'vehicle fires/burning to the ground' comments above for potential outcomes; even if that might be somewhat out toward the extreme end of the 'potential results' scale, they still happen! :lecturef_smilie:

Just Sayin'
