• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Looking for Battery recommendations & sources to order from?

I think our '21 RT's are gonna be due for new batteries this spring. Looking for recommendations and sources to order from. Sealed/no maintenance vs de-activated? I'll admit the stock ones did alright since new, no complaints but I did keep them on the tenders whenever we didn't ride for a couple weeks or more, and they're on the tenders as I type, but they were a bit sluggish in the fall at nap time..

I started a thread at the beginning of last December after I killed the original battery in my 2024 Spyder (I left the key turned on overnight).

I bought a battery from a local Batteries Plus that I had purchased a battery for a lawn tractor in the past. I went to the Batteries Plus website, which has an option to search for a battery for your vehicle. I ended up buying an Xtreme 24HL-BS AGM Powersport Battery, with 350 CCA and 21 Ah ratings.

It came activated, but not charged, so I ended up leaving it hooked to the Battery Tender Jr that I have overnight, and it's been fine since then.
I do leave it plugged it into the Battery Tender Jr when it's parked in my garage.

Here's my battery thread:

Interstate. Drive in pop your frunk show them your battery and they'll put a new one in for you and it should last approximately 7 years if taken care of properly. Good batteries have gotten outrageously expensive over the past 4 years. Don't cheap out on a second rate battery like the dealers sell. Or, make sure you have a current AAA premier membership.

I have used the Motobatt, from Lamonster, worked great! And I am using a Noca, right now, love the charger battery, jury's still out!

Yuasa YTX24HL. NOT the YTX24HL-BS. Big difference and the -BS is NOT RECOMMENDED by BRP due to charging system compatibility issues.

You want the factory activated one, not the -BS bottle supplied version.
JC honest question here. Other than the factory battery coming with the acid in it and the BS having to be filled by the end user isn't it the same battery?
If the end user follows the directions that comes with the battery (letting it soak and then charging) after filling I would think the BS battery would be fresher, and because of that a better choice.

From the Yuasa website:

YTX24HL - 21 amp hr, 350 CCA - recommended for 998cc Spyder (GS) 2008-2010

YTX24HL-BS - 21 amp hr, 350 cca - recommended for 998 cc Spyder (RS) 2008-2016, and for 1330cc Spyder (RT,F3) 2014-2022

I have the YTX24HL-BS battery in my '22 RTL Spyder. I put it in not that long after I got my Spyder. I did like instructions said. No problem with it. Had another same Yuasa-BS battery in my old Yamaha RSTD. It was still working well when I got rid of that bike. I have no problems with using a Yuasa battery that I have to fill. Just take your time and do as the instructions say. When it's time to replace the wife's battery in her '19 F3L, I'll order another Yuasa-BS battery from Amazon.

The trouble is the initialization charge is very specific. Failure to do so or not doing it at all will lead to a very short battery life. The Spyder charging system WILL NOT initialize a new battery correctly. IF its all done correctly, the BS battery is fine. But most dealers and indeed most mechanics do not. This was BRPs reason for the tech service bulletin directing to use factory activated batteries only.
