the name "spyder" with an Y was officie only used from Maserati - I was told when I visited the factory -
(trainingsweekend ..) - small lightwight car with a biturbo 6 zylinder 2000 ccm ..!!

Ill just call mine black betty ,i dont need to buy spider bits because if you leave anything in one spot for more than a day the RED-BACKS (BLACK WIDOWS ) will move in and hey presto free spider-stuff allbeit posoinous stuff they are an everyday hazard here in south oz.

I would say that the spelling SpYder has to do with the "Y" factor that BRP refers to in their information about the Spyder Roadster's. I do not think they intended it to be related to the arachnid (spider).

The Y factor is due to where the rubber hits the road. It makes a Y configuration with two wheels in the front and one wheel in the back. I read this on the BRP web site a few years ago.
