Lamonster, since reading your comment on the micron pipe sounding the best I've been looking for one on Ebay, but how do I know what will work? By the way seeing your mods really makes waiting for my SPYDER hard, good reading & helps to pass the time though! thanks in advance.WAYNE

I was able to get the Micron from Magic Man installed. WOW! I LOVE THIS THING! I am more excited about the Spyder now then when I first picked it up!

I can't say enough about how great it looks and SOUNDS!

Thank you Magic Man and thank you Lamonster for recommending it!

Oay, got the elbow and the micron, will wait till after my 600 mile checkup. Here's the question, when taking off the original pipe do I just slip the elbow on and then the muffler or do I have to be concerned about the gasket? Sounds like all I have to do is remove the original and then install the elbow and pipe, right? Hearing concerns about a gasket issue is making me ask the question thanks for your inputs... :spyder: :redfaced:

The Street Magic Cycle Products 90 elbow is designed to use the stock collector gasket. After removing your old exhaust system, thoroughly inspect your old gasket for any damage. If you find any signs of damage or wear we recommend you replace this gasket.

hey MM, Got the 90 and the Micron today installed it in 30 min. Now i got a small leak between the Micron and the 90 any recommendation also is there a way to make it a little bit quieter just a little bit kinda worried about when i leave for work early in the morning don't want to wake up the neighbor.

Hello, My Micron can had the same small leak at first. I don't know if the clamp can squueex it enough at first or just why it does this? I found after rididng it and getting it hot I re-tightened the Micron clamp and it got much better. Now after riding it 600 miles it has totally stopped. I think the 2 areas mate to each other a bit when the stainless gets hot as it is a softer metal.

I have a technical question / curiosity Magic Man. Why did you decide to make the 90 sized for the exhaust gasket as opposed to making it fit without the gasket like Can-Am's Hindle exhaust?

I like the gasket, as a good gasket will allow for a better seal. The same reason BRP did not just make it pipe on pipe.

Hindle is not BRP, so please do not confuse the two. Hindle is just the vendor who got the bid to make an accessory pipe for BRP.

The time and tooling it takes to make a flair that big costs money, gaskets cost money, Hindle like so many other aftermarket people sometimes try to save themself into a profit. If they feel they can run without one and for a product with their name on it that is their choice.

We also thought of saving a few bucks on the production pipe by not spending the money on tooling to make the large flair and go pipe on pipe. That would have been a far easier and cheaper way to go for sure. Because, the tooling and trouble to make this big of a flair in stainless steel does increase the cost to manufacture for sure! However, I felt the continued use of gasket helps sealing so to justify the cost in making it. So, the Street Magic Cycle Products 90 elbow uses the gasket.

This is along the same lines as to why we spend the time and expence to have all of our Street Magic Cycle Products 90 elbows polished and do not just sell a raw stainless, or even mild steel pipe that will rust like some people do.

Additionally, the use of the stock gasket allows for replacement gaskets and clamps to be easily available at any Spyder dealer should replacements ever be needed for future service of the Spyder.

Also, you can be sure that if the expense of both making the large flair and the use of a gasket did not improve the pipes sealing on a bike that a really big company like BRP would have to warranty, the cost accountants at BRP would have cut it out of the budget long ago.

But bottom of all lines is. It was my personal choice to have this production pipe continue to use the gasket as I feel it's use helps the overall quality, so the Street Magic product uses it. I hope this answers your question?

Thanks bro! I understand where you are coming from in wanting to put forth a little more effort or cost to come up with a superior product. :doorag:

:spyder: :( now i am sorry i went with the Hindle :redfaced: :congrats: to you BRP should read this post , very respectfuly DW

:spyder:A high temp gasket maker will do just fine that is what I did a small bead on spring will also reduce Harmonic Vibration wich will cause spring to fail early :spyder:

I've always used a silicon type automotive exhaust-gasket-goo when putting on new pipes / mufflers on bikes. It's red in colour and readily available in most cars accessory shops. It's has certainly stopped leaks and is easily removed and replaced.

Got the micron and 90 delivered today--Thanks very, very much, Ev!

I'm gonna be late for my 625 mile service, but, can I ask you all, is it necessary to wait until after that service to pop on the new exhaust?

Of course I'm impatient and would like to install it right now, but why (as suggested by Trap and others, I think) should I wait 'til after the service?

Expert opinions appreciated! :dontknow:

I have had the Micron on mine since mile 8 and it has always ran great with no problems. I had the dealer hook it to the BRP computer at 625 miles and everything was normal as it should be. So I would say run it. My dealer just put a Micron system on his wifes Spyder at 125 miles without even thinking twice. What I liked the best was that he chose the Micron with our elbow over the Hindle.

Thanks for the advice, Ev.

I finally installed it today...Terrific sound, no leaks, easy install.

Quick question. I coupled the two springs and put some gasket goo on them, connecting from the welded loop on the header pipe only to the bottom loop on the Micron. They seemed a bit too tight to stretch each one singly to each loop on the Micron--am I mistaken? :dontknow:

Micron gives the springs with their cans as part of the package. However, our 90 is not designed to use, or need them. So, you can take them off and keep them for another project someday.
