Micron Packing Experiance

Anyone have any luck with keeping Micron packed,7850 miles and have to pack every 1500 miles minimum. Used microns material 3 times and started trying out others due to cost. FMF made a mess too fine of material glass fibers out the back terrible. Moose has a blanket works well, need 2 blankets and wire as tight as possible with copper wire and install outer shell, pack end with bag of Packing also Moose brand still at 600 miles louder and if I go 2000 miles the O-ring seal at inlet side will burn out. Nothing sounds and performs as well as a (fresh) Micron. Looking for discussion on Microns I am going to try other pipes for this thread input on Micron experience.:chat:

I guess one plus for the Hindle is that it doesn't rely on fiberglass packing. Its all metal inside. Probably some other exhausts use something other than fiberglass and I would look for one of those or the Hindle.

I repacked mu Carbon Fiber Micron Twice. The second time I wrapped steel wool arround the center tube before I wrapped the fiberglass blanket. Secured with stainless wire wraps. We'll see how it works. Mine blew both rubber seale out the second time around. I'm gonna try the Leo Vince.

According to NoMagic, the Micron factory packing is forced to the rear quickly in a big two cyl. application like the Sypder unless the packing is "wired" in place vs. the "packing tape" approach used by the factory. The result is excessive heat at the inlet side of the pipe and , in my case, blow out the rubber seal. ($20.00 replacement cost) I can bear this out by my experience. You may want to call NoMagic to get this information first hand.
