• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Moisture Behind Instrument Glass

Cleaned up my Spyder this past weekend. Very, very gentle with the hose and I intentionally tried to avoid any spraying of water (direct or otherwise) in the vicinity of the instrument cluster. But when I took it for a ride afterward, I could see water droplets clinging to the inside of the instrument glass. I ran my finger over the outside of the glass in that area just in case my eyes were playing tricks on me but, for sure, the water is on the inside. I had assumed that that area would be sealed in one way or another to prevent water from getting in there. Was my assumption incorrect?

Thanks,

Ken

Sorry you had a problem and this surprises me. I got caught out in a couple of good rain storms and this has never happenned to me.

If you had droplets in there, a leak is certain. Shouldn't be, see the dealer for a replacement cluster. On the other hand, many clusters have fog or "snail tracks". Not sure of a cure for that situation. The instrument panel "glass" does not appear to be removeable.

It's supposed to be water tight...no condensation or fluid inside...take to dealer and get it replaced...I'm sure they can reprogram the mileage and necessary numbers....

I got a streak in mine once you have to take the panel out and the glass snaps off and you can clean it then

This is common on H-D gauges every dresser I ever owned has done it it seems to go away a day or two after washing or riding in a good soaker.H-D says they are supposed to breath a little and they do seem to hold up over the years :doorag:

Ah hah...there is a way to take the glass/plastic front off and clean the inside? Please post directions for this...I have a streak in mine...thought it was gonna be there forever...

Thanks...

The cluster plastic is removeable. Remove the cluster as per the manual and you will see a number of clips spaced around the base. Using a small screwdriver you can pry them out and remove the entire plastic cover. There is a silicon rubber seal around the base of the cluster once the clear plastic top is removed. This may have been omitted during assembly maybe or the plastic cover is cracked. Don't know if you can get just the plastic cover. To replace the cluster leads to incorrect odometer readings as the new one will begin at zero. I had to remove mine due to some fluid that had splashed up on the glass shortly after I got my Spyder. It dried out but left a film on the inner glass. Me being me couldn't stand the smudging.

Hope this helps.
Al
