MY LOCAL CAN--AM DEALERS are all going

About two month ago our local Sea-Doo/ATV dealer closed up (Tri-Star Motors, Huntingdon PA) Now today I heard that the SPYDER/ATV dealer in State College, PA is no longer going to handle the Can-Am line..(Kissell Motor Sports) This leaves many people in central PA with NO dealers within a two hour drive..:dontknow:

Hard times is the problem. Everyone has had to tighten the belt and consolidate. It is a tough environment to introduce a new vehicle like the Spyder.

I'd could say "Don't worry, Obama is going to fix everything from Global Warming to Iran with his giant, unlimited government credit card".

But I won't say that because that would be political and Lamont will pull my post if I did say something like that.

Good thing I know when to keep my mouth shut!

A lot of this is due to the fact that BRP is cracking down on dealers about them selling the ATV Line. From what I hear is that for every 1 spyder in stock they must also have X number of ATV's. Unfortanately its strickly ATV's and SeaDoo's and other BRP products don't fall in line with the requirements to sell the spyder. Were thats not a problem down here were there is a plenty of need/want for ATV's i can see dealers in more populated comunities having issues with keeping that kind of inventory in stock.

My local dealer had 60+ units (ATVs & Spyders) in stock but that wasn't enough for BRP, dealer couldn't handle the additional inventory dumping so BRP pulled all their units and off they went.

I'm not making any accusations because I have no idea. But this sounds very hard to beleive. Why would BRP suck up 60+ units from an in place dealership? Seems counter productive.

In stories like these I always wonder if there is more to it than meets the eye. Like maybe the dealer is not keeping up with financial obligations.

For the past few months, my dealer has had the same six crated Spyders in his back lot and the same two demos out on the floor. Of course, our state is hit harder by the current economy than most. I hope they aren't forced out of the Spyder business.

My dealer said BRP has been accommodating to them in reguards to inventory. But they have been one of the top performing dealerships too.

Do we know how many Spyders will BRP plan to produce this year?
Do they run Valcourt on 1 or 2 shifts?
