• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Motor

:lecturef_smilie: Nobody ever used the word "amazing"... :lecturef_smilie:
Yes; the engines will just about run on anything that you can get to burn...
They just run "Better", on fuels that contain the suggested octane levels.
The relative change in performance due to fuel types seems to be more noticeable in the 998s. Could that be due to them having less mid-range power to begin with? :dontknow:

I don't think that the 1330 will end up in the RS...
The overall package is just too bulky for it's bodywork, and BRP may just end up re-positioning the bike in it's line-up as an entry level model... (D: :agree:)

I've spoken to a couple of Main Dealers and it is no longer possible to order a new RS (S), so that rather suggests that the F3 is the new RS....

WELL WELL WELL

:lecturef_smilie:.....Interesting....I said 3-4 months ago that BRP would probably drop the " V-TWIN " line ......and was ridiculed by the usual band of " NAYSAYER'S " here .............we shall see....:dontknow:------Mike

I don't think the 998 V Twin will go away any time soon. BRP has a lot vested in that power plant. Most of the fleet is currently running it.

The talk has also been along the lines of bigger (1500 +) or smaller (600 or so).

There are a lot of "proven" engines out there--so...:popcorn::popcorn:

All I can add is that it is going to be an interesting 2016 model introduction year announcement.:yes:

I think most of us have used the word "peppier" when referring to the difference between 87 (here lowest grade) and premium (here 90).

I have noted a few times when the test vehicle was our 998 V twin. I have never put 87 in the 1330--just the 88 octane mid grade the last week or so.

I also noted no difference in performance on the 998 with the 88 versus the 90 octane present. Mileage is 3 mpg less though.
