• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Not supposed to ride on gravel?

I see people posting about rocks gettingu in their belts. So, you can't drive these on gravel? I already have.

When you are out and about--you are likely to come upon gravel at some time or another.

I destroyed one belt when we went down a mile or so gravel road going in to a camp ground. It picked up a rock and caused a crack in the belt.

I also traveled the Alacan highway in 2010 and encountered some gravel spots--with no trouble.

I think the secret is not to drive so fast that you are spraying gravel all over the place--your asking for a rock.

Gravel is a calculated risk of driving--unless you are into off roading--which I believe is not recommended for the Spyder.

Hmmmm... My parents live on a gravel road. I have to drive 3/4 of a mile to get there. Never thought about the belt getting fawked up. I figured the 3 wheel stance would be handy for gravel roads

SpyderPops offers a nice belt guard for the RT that might save you from getting a rock under the belt. I have ridden on gravel a number of times (with 2 different RTs) but always slow to a crawl and try to avoid the places with loose gravel.

If you run very fast on gravel you will soon start to find pitted places around the lower body parts!

I have traveled on some gravel roads, but I always slow down a lot and have not had any issues. I keep my speed below 25 on gravel roads.

I travel down 2.4 miles of dirt roads for over a year now no problems yet dont mean it wont happen tomorrow just take it slow your tread of the tires will pick them up even at slow speeds and thats what will put one in the old belt it happens on any bike thats belt driven done it twice on my harley on the same road seems to be worse than the spyder on rocks. Your folks wont like it if you dont come by because of rocks lol good luck..

I ride on gravel all the time... like a wild beast fish-tailing all over.... never had a problem.... and I don't run any belt guards.

Don't worry about it and RIDE!

I had 22 k on a belt with a rock hole thru the middle ( I ran on the salt flats with said belt) so if can happen but I run on gravel, there is a risk of this and it can happen as people have said but its also fun as hell on the dirt, too bad there isn't a soft suspension button to let'er buck.

I would say you should have no trouble.

GRAVEL

Vermont is probably 35 % gravel/dirt so I just use some caution....not really worried about it......Mike...
