• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why do we do this? To Learn? What? who cares? and what differance does it make? Especially to the bear.

Wow!! I'm packing a tent and bed-roll in case I end up not finding a room on my way north or coming back. But I'm afraid to camp out in bear country!

Pack iron, and be prepared to use it!

I would LOVE to have seen some pictures of the rest of that Yogi!

Most likely for various conservation studies, learning how big their territories (radio collar) are, migrations, habitat information.

:agree: I've seen the paws on two 600 pound Black Bear...
Those mitts could just ball them up, and CRUSH them!

Heck, native americans used a bow and arrow made of sticks, sinew and stones to kill these things. I'm guessing my .50 flintlock could, too. Or maybe my M1911A1? (my loads, of course)

Glock 10mm or any 10mm is a good choice also.

It all depends on the "urgency" of the Kill...
If you're not trying to stop an animal that's hunting you; just about any reasonable centerfire round can do the job... IF it is placed properly!
But for STOPPING something of that size... always shoot the most powerful firearm, that you can accurately shoot!
(I'm about the biggest fan of the .45ACP in here... I wouldn't carry it as a stopper, in Big Bear Country)
