Delivered to me on Friday and rain yesterday; today was going to be my opportunity to ride the Canyon for an extended period of time. The reason for my purchase was 3 fold- I’m getting older and needed a ride that can take me through the tail end of my motorcycle career, the wildlife volume in my area is insane and my knee was not happy with the perfectly good 2020 Triumph T100 Bonneville. I felt it was time to revisit owning a Can Am. My baseline perspective is from my brief ownership of an 08 Can Am GS manual 5 speed and the 20 other motorcycles owned including a 2022 Ural. I’m in the North GA mountains so great riding is right outside my door. I opted for some tree covered creek side roads connecting to some great switchbacks of highway 60. I kept the Canyon in NORMAL drive mode to evaluate. The ride was stable and quite comfortable, I never felt the suspension over matched so my guess is the SPORT mode is going to be a blast. This was my first exposure to the semi auto transmission and I was pleasantly surprised at the ease the machine shifted, down shifts were predictable and smooth. All and all a great first ride, about 60 miles. Below are some pics of the ride- if you zoom the tree pic you will see a bear cub hanging out….
