Octane vs. Ethanol

I've seen several of the posts here about the horrors (sorry for the strong wording) of ethanol and what its doing to our engines. Here in the Washington DC area all gas has ethanol. But in some of the outer cities there is ethanol free gas but the octane level is only 87. Any thoughts on running ethanol free with 87 octane vs. 92-93 octane but including ethanol?

Just fill up and ride..... Most of us cannot avoid ethanol... so you're gonna have to burn it most the time anyway.

I'd make sure and hit your minimum Octane rating before I'd worry about Ethanol...

My GS/RS was minimum octane of 87... not sure if that has changed for newer models. I ran 87 all the time.. tried higher octane a few times and there is no difference-- so save your $$$. Extra octane when not required is a waste of money.

My RT requires minimum of 91... so that is what I run in it.

If I run across the proper octane without ethanol I would choose that.

:agree: Look at the octane first. Ethanol free gasoline is just a bonus...like chocolate cake for dessert.

Aren't they currently limited to 10% ethanol? :dontknow:
I know that when they get to a certain level; the entire fuel system needs upgrading to handle the longterm effects that ethanol will have... :shocked:
My Truck has an E85 engine in it and has a stainless steel fuel tank!

My RT requires minimum of 91... so that is what I run in it.

The manual says minimun 87 but recommends 91, I've only ever ran 87 because that what my dealer told me, going to try 91 next fill up to see if there is a difference.
