• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ongoing saga of that frunk piece...

... that I can't get back into the space where it belongs. In the picture, #1 is a solid piece of plastic that won't bend, warp, or budge, #2 is the piece that won't fit back under the window cowling. I looked to try to do what Joe and JayBros suggested, but there is nothing that is movable or soft enough to move. Is it possible... that when I was jacking up the Spyder with floor jack that I bent the frame somehow and narrowed that space where that frunk piece goes? I am not an engineer, not a mechanic, not a handyman, just a weekend wrencher trying to save some money on projects. Please tell me I didn't bend the frame...

So - with all of that, any other ideas?

 Jim,
I'm about as Ham-Fisted a dope, that has ever been born...nojoke
I've always just got the tabs started into place, and BOOM!
I'll pull mine out a bit later today, and see if there's any useful advice hiding somewhere... :D

By the way: I really like your new Avatar!

Hmm

You're picture certainly makes it look like the tabs of the removable piece shown will line up with the notches they slip into. It's doubtful(not impossible) that you damaged anything. Looking at the pic, the lower left tab should be the first inserted, then the top right, and last the pin. Are you saying the notches for the tabs of the removable piece won't line up? They certainly look like they will in the photo.

A picture from above of the entire front end may prove helpful. The one you posted gives no overall perspective.

Curious. ....

When you say you jacked her up....where did you place the jack...?? you could have bent the sub frame the frunk sits on pushing the frunk up and not allowing the parts to fit properly...:dontknow:

I think that would be an unfortunate first. But it could well be. For his sake, I know we both hope not.

Did you try inserting the tabs first and then angle it into place? It does flex a little, which can be necessary/helpful when reinstalling.

Yes it can be finicky. I find it easier to line the push pin hole up first. Then it does require a little flexing of the tabs but they should line up and fit in. I always had more trouble if I tried to put the tabs in first.

That's the easy side to get on, the other with the front switch take more fiddling.

The black piece flex's but should be easy to get on..

Not sure what you have done so far?

I told you I wasn't an engineer, etc....

...and my problem was I was trying to force the frunk cover UNDER the entire windshield cowling. The tab - #2 - actually slides BETWEEN two pieces of the cowling (red #3). I accidentally got it to fit. Had to be all of your good advice. All is good - thanks
Jim
