• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Our First Long Trip on the Spyder

It has been 10 years since we took our last 6,000 mile ride on two wheels and at least three years since we had an out of town ride on two wheels. Today we completed our first over night 500+ mile trip on the 2024 RTL. Most of our 3 wheel time has been day trips of less than 150 miles, and since we love eating at Bob Evans restaurants, we decided to head to Paducah, KY from North Alabama for our outing. Along the way, we were able to recreate a photo op from October 2016 on our BMW K1200 LT at the Eiffel Tower replica in Paris, TN.

The ride up was mostly back roads and lesser highways with only a one mile stretch of interstate in KY, for a total of 248 miles over 4 and a half hours. I used t think the seat was pretty good on the Spyder until today! There is a Russel Day Long in my future for sure. Got settled in at the Drury Inn and had a great dinner at Bob Evans. This particular one was always our lunch stop on those Western trips on the two wheeler, but we had never stayed over night here. Can't say I would recommend it, as there is an Ambulance station just behind the hotel, so lots of sirens; and apparently Paducah collects all the industrial trash bins at 2 am, so not a great sleep! The trip back was I 24 up to the Fort Campbell exit, then 41 on down to a short run on I 40 to I 840 to 431 back home, 243 miles and just over 4 hours.

Very pleased with how well the Spyder performed on all legs of the journey and looking forward to the next long trip.

We also did our longest trip to date on our Spyder. 500+ miles I think, from Daytona to Sugar Mountain NC. All of that primarily slab (not my preferred). Then we headed South West to Lower NC Sapphire/Cashiers, and headed home from there on Sat. 400 something miles there, mostly old highways.
