• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Percentage of owners?

I don't if this has been covered before, but what percentage of Spyder owners are men and women?
I tried a search but came up with nothing.

I was thinking this would be a great point to make when talking to the general public about Spyders.
I've talked to a lot of women and told them there are a lot of women that are the primary driver of Sp[yders not just passengers.
Thanks!

Over the two years we've had our Spyder, my overall impression is that there are more women driving Spyders than when we first started but I don't recall actually seeing any percentages on here or elsewhere. A lot of bikes are probably jointly owned by a couple, but the driver could have several possibilities...there are a lot of couples that ride but I would guess most of them have only one licensed driver, although some of them have 2 licensed drivers. An increasing number of folks belong to 2-Spyder families. A lot depends on the licensing requirements in the state, too. It seems that there is a higher percentage of women drivers in the states that have easier licensing requirements. In our state you have to pass a motorcycle safety class to get an endorsement. In the Panhandle, that means you will be on a 2 wheel bike, even if you are only interested in a 3 wheel bike...ridiculous.

It will be interesting to see what percentages you get if folks start responding to your query...maybe you need to break it down into more categories than male/female owners:
a) male driver
b) female driver
c) couple with one Spyder, both of whom are licensed & drive Spyder
d) couple with one Spyder, only one of whom drives Spyder
e) couple with two Spyders

We ride with a number of other Spyders locally: one couple takes turns driving a single Spyder, one couple has a male driver (both have M endorsement but she would like to go back to 2 wheel bike and he always drive when we are in a group), three couples have only men with the M endorsement, and one guy rides solo because his wife works out of town.

Male, but you should have done a poll. Would have been easier.

Why don't someone start a poll? I do not know how or I would volunteer to set it up.

I am guessing that since the last poll, that there are more female drivers than previous.

We're counted as one of each (2 Spyders), but Nancy had hers first...two years before I got my first one.

There are other different demographic groups for the Spyder...first-time riders, riders who hadn't ridden in years, riders whose spuse "forbid" a motorcycle, and aging riders who want to remain on the road. I think the thing in shortest supply is young riders...partly due to the expense. BMW has that same difficulty.
