• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Polaris buys Indian!

Do you have a link or address for that site? (My computer skills border on the "moronic" side... and the wrong side at that!)

I found it by accident, looking for other stuff. Just google kneeslider, or type in thekneeslider.com in your address line. Sorry, I don't know yet how to post a link.
Lots of interesting thing there, like a Subaru boxer diesel powered custom bike.

Thanks guys! I found it!
Polaris has the financial diversity to keep them afloat; as long as they don't cheapen them! :lecturef_smilie:

One easy way is to copy the link that's in the address bar and then paste it into your post. The forum software takes care of the rest.

This will be interesting to watch. Indian has sure had a rough go in the past few years. We had an Indian dealership in Anchorage just before the company went out of business about 2 or 3 owners ago. They had some very beautiful bikes and I came very close to buying one. The price was what kept me away--and I am glad I did not buy at that time.

I got to peeking at their prices today... They seem to be starting out on the other side of 30K...

But they are awful pretty...

you can get into a hold over for about 28k, they are brembo braked up and have some good parts but they do need to be at the 19-23k to put a dent in the market.

Don't get me wrong, everyone has a harvey danielson but 15k is too much to pay for a name to me.

the guts and glory trip the guys are on is stopping at the indian/triumph dealer where my buddy bought his triumph thunderbird which is 12.5k which is GREAT for what you get in a cruiser and it is unique.

Their nosebleed pricing may have been forced upon them by low production numbers and they may have made things worse by pricing for an air of excusivity... Polaris and their production capacity may allow them access to cheaper productiuon methods through volume. It's up to them to keep the quality, and figure out how many Indians each of us ought to have in our garages, and then price them accordingly.
...But I'm pulling for them!

I think this is good news for both companies. Wonder what engine they'll go with in the new models? They had just recently started making their own again (another thing to drive the costs up).

Victory makes great bikes and has a real following-- combine that with the Indian brand and I think you'll have a winner.

The fact that Polaris owns the Victory brand may be very helpful for Indian. Victory has grown and come out with some nice machines over the last few years.

Their know-how should help them get the pricing down where the average person is not going to say "ouch" when looking at the sticker. I do hope they do not Victoryize the Indian. As in making a Victory and hanging Indian fenders, logos, seats, and trim on the bikes. The Indian should remain a unique brand--not a made over Victory.

If they stay in the "killer" price range--I don't see much of a future for them. There are to many "known" brands with good mechanical and longevity records out there--that do not cost as much.

I'm hoping they can succeed this time.
