• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question for 2 Spyder families

Do the folks with 2 Spyders have communication systems between the Spyders? If so, what do you use? Are you happy with what you use? What are the things you don't like about your system? Thanks.

Use Scala G4 on RT between rider and passenger and son's RS along with GPS and Cell. Have had no problems or complaints.

Do you have a comm system for intercom now? Most wireless comm systems also support bike-to-bike. The wired systems will, too, but need dual comm systems as well as add-on FRS GMRS or CB radios. We tried those and were not happy with the bike-to-bike comms, although we love the wired intercom. If I were doing wireless I'd probably go with the Sena SMH10 instead of the Cardo Scala.

We use the Scala G4 system on our RT's and they have been trouble free for the past three years.

Battery life (we are always on) runs between six to eight hours depending on how much my wife points out what I have missed seeing on the road.

We use half helmets so the units are anchored using tape that I replace once a year.

They have run well at 28 degrees to 105 degrees and survived torrential rain storms.

We experienced some wind feedback early on, but a piece of masking tape on the front of the mike eliminated that problem.

My Sweet heart and I jus got our SENS system hooked up yesterday and love them. The voice quality and volume are great. No more hitting me on the bak of the helmet:yes::clap::roflblack:.

Ride in comfort,

I am still using the "old" version of Scala 2's. They work fine bike to bike for about one block and a half distance--straight line of sight. We ride at 2 to 3 seconds distance--so it does not present a problem.

I tried the Scala 4's when they first came out--sent them back because I could not get them to work. Current information seems to be that they have the bugs out of the system now. These are supposed to communicate up to a mile apart and can be used up to four communicators.

Now Cardo has the new Scala 9's. I have heard of early difficulty to get them to work--but once through that--they work fine. Biggest complaint--poorly written instructions.

Sena gets a lot of press here and I am torn between replacing my 2's with either the 9's or Sena system.

Hope this information helps.

We've got a J&M audio (wired) system on our RS...trying to figure out what we'll do whenever we get our RT. Our various helmets are all wired now. We can communicate with folks with CB but none of our fellow Spyders have a CB...that comes in handy when we're riding with Patriot Guard (or listening in on truckers discussing our weird bike). LOL.

You would have to be creative to adapt a J&M with CB to the RT, but since you already have the headsets, that would probably be the way to go. You can adapt a CB to Starcom1 and Autocom, if you can find a CB that you can fit...or you could buy the BRP comm system and the apropriate adapter cable for your headset. The easiest and cheapest way out would be to switch to a wireless system, but you will lose the CB capabilities.

Cheryl and I use Sena SMH10s and we like them. We had a chance a couple of weeks ago to use them on separate bikes and they worked just fine.

We have the Sena 10 system and it has worked flawlessly since we bought it at Spyderfest. The one we have works up to a little more than a 1/4 mile, but it gets hilly it cuts out sooner and as soon as the gap is closer it comes right back on. Highly recommend it.

Sena 10s here. Good while she is in sight but fades out a bit after that. They connect to the phones we have so that option is there if we get to far from each other. Super phone clarity and head-to-head communication.

Just watch the pins when taking in and out of base. I bent and broke one which killed my mic.
