• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Questions about utopia backrest for a RT

I just ordered one. I am going to install it myself cutting into the seat my understanding is that after you cut the
seat there a ring or something that goes around the bar and where you cut the seat to keep the whole from opening or speading wider.

The question is, The glue they supply is good enough to hold it there in place considering the abuse. It will get over the years . or is there another type
of glue I should buy

Have had my back rest on for one and a half years and no problem! You will love it. Did you get the removeable back rest? Bob

I have had the utopia backrest for three years and had no problems with it.. I did not get the removable either and have no trouble riding two up, but it is on the standard seat (which after adding the backrest I am completely satisfied with)

My Utopia is the first one made for the RT. I shipped my saddle and passenger backrest (to match the textured panels) to Bob and helped him design the bracket for it. This is the 4th bike I've put one on. None have had any additional ripping of the seat cover. Just make certain your measurements are accurate before making the cut. You'll love it!

(The yellow GS & black RT and pics on their website are my wife's and mine.)

Its a "peel and stick" just make sure its clean and put it where you want it the first try. 2 years or washing and it has never came off or lose. What its really for is to keep the cut you make from tearing.

The peel & stick piece they provide holds pretty well. If you were to have any issues tho, you could easily use a little leather or vinyl glue to hold it in place. Remember, measure twice & cut once. The stabbing a long knife thru a perfectly good seat is the hardest part, but you'll do fine.

From experience: When it comes time to screw in the bolts that attach the vertical post to the seat base, take the bolt to the hardware store and get a bolt about 1/2 to 3/4 in longer. use this bolt to get the two pieces pulled together, use the remaining provided shorter bolt, remove the longer one, complete the install with the remaining provided shorter bolt. I had a hard time getting the provided bolts "started".
