• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Radio antenna - anyone changed to get better reception?

Radio reception

Anyone change out the radio antenna. Looking for better reception as the wife wants to listen to the radio.
Thanks

You may want to do a search on here about that it may not be just a antenna problem on that new style bike! Some have found there antennas not even hooked up, guess there's a connection under the seat some where that a lot of people found unplugged! But as far as taking the antenna off, it was a bear on my old ride, lots of Loctite!! May be a youtube on it!! Good luck!!

I bought a 31" antenna at O'Reilly. Came with lots of adapters - none correct for us. I just cut a 6mm SS bolt off, cleaned the end threads, and used it. filled out the hole in the tupperware with grommets and rubber tubing for appearance and to keep water out. Increased reception to poor from awful. I've checked the mid-line connector. The new radio must have been designed by the hardware portion of the BRP Connect team.

Un-fortunately we don't know what Spyder your talking about !!!! .... After my stock antennae ( 14 RT ) broke I changed it to a Bosche re-tractable ( manual ) Auto antenna. This improved my reception by 300 +/- % ..... Mike

I was having the same issue. I checked my braided antenna wire and bolt for tightness and locite. No locite and the bolt was tight. After reattaching it I got better reception.. go figure.. The best I figure it wasn't making good contact.

I was having the same issue, bad radio reception ( , someone broke my OEM antenna).

I change to a shorty ( antenna) in 7/14/2016.

I used a 7mm deep socket wrench, ( My Album has pictures of the new at the time short antenna) and installed a new base( black antenna base) I cut a small opening on the new base to go over the top of the antenna, ( part number for the black base is 708300156).

I still get bad radio reception ( there is not very many radio stations to chose from here in Vermont).

Good luck!

I think the only real solution is to get the SiriusXM app for your phone. Always perfect reception!

Really, I have tried using it out of one of my trucks one time and it liked to fade in and out if I was going under a big stand of trees, drove me nuts!!!

The nice thing about the app is it uses cell data. You don’t need a clear view of the satellite.

Yes, great if; 1) you have unlimited cell data, and 2) you are always in a cell (the best roads around here have very little cell data and admittedly poor FM signals).

My antenna wasn’t even screwed in when I went to put the BRP trailer hitch and wiring kit on… Can’t tell you how disappointed I am at spending this much money on a piece of machinery and found like four things not hooked up or installed improperly as far as I’m concerned....
