Rear speaker replacement - what size, & what's best? (2014 RT Ltd)

Hi. I've got a 2014 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited SE6 that I inherited from my dad. I'm finding the rear speakers aren't really putting out any sound at all; even with the fader cranked all the way to the rear. I was wondering what the rear speaker size is; and what the best replacement speaker in the OEM size would be. Thanks

I put kicker 5 1/4" speakers in the rear. It takes some enlarging of interior, but they fit and sound better than stock. Search the web and this site for member BLUEKNIGHT911 to find the thread that I used. It takes a bit of time, but I did both the fronts and rears in an afternoon.

It ALWAYS pays to search first!

At its simplest, just type 'Speaker' into the Search field up toward the top right of the page; click the 'Search Titles Only' box in the drop-down list, then submit the search. Scan thru the listed results for the titles that look the most appropriate; and read on! hyea:

:agree: . I wasn't the first to swap out OEM speakers ( I have a 14 RT also ), but I probably had the most success ..... What I learned was this - ALL speakers have to be SWAPPED for a model using 2 or 3 OHMS; OR turn off any speakers you DON'T swap (I'm too lazy to type WHY!!!! ... take this on trust). The fronts are 5 1/4" and 5 1/4" speakers will fit in the rear with a bit of trimming. MY JBL's are no longer made, but I've heard good things about the KICKERS. Lowering the OHM rating actually increases the effective power of your HEAD unit. I've been running now for over 80,000 mi on the new speakers, and they still work great. I didn't use "Marine grade" speakers and they have not been damaged from any water, but DO NOT USE A GARDEN HOSE ON THEM!!!!! Good luck .... Mike :thumbup:
