What's going on with your bike?
Long explanation follows that I posted on another forum.
I need some input from the community to make an informed decision. I will not spend $4000 on a bike that is worth $5000 to $6000 dollars. Not knowing if the dealership service created the problem when they worked on the front suspension (seems odd DPS activated after working on suspension) or if it is a legitimate problem that would have happened anyway. Looking at taking it to an attorney if they did in fact create the problem. Other options I am looking at are selling it as is or possible parting it out. Below is a description of what has taken place.

On March 19, 2025 I took my bike in for State inspection hoping to wait on it. I was told that was not going to work that they were busy and didn’t have an opening until over a week. I ended up leaving it there and about a week later I was called and told that the upper and lower control arms on the left and right side were loose and needed replacing; Quoted a price of about $1500 and I gave permission to go ahead with the work. I was called on April 18th and told it was ready and the Spyder was ready and that the upper arms did not need to be replaced, just tightened. My bill was now approximately $1100. That was nice to hear, that it wasn’t just replaced anyhow.
On my way home the steering did not feel right. When making a left hand turn it was VERY responsive but right hand turns seemed okay. I did not do anything about it that day as I wanted to ride it more and make sure it wasn't just me, since it had new parts that would make the suspension tighter. On April 30 my wife and I took it for a ride and I ran into several issues. First issue I noticed was that the cruise control did not work, yet it had worked on my ride on 3/19/25 when I took it in for state inspection. Second issue was as I was going out Somerset Pike when the speed limit changed, I took the speed from 35-40 up to 45-50. Then the Spyder would shut down and would go into limp mode with warning of check DPS (Dynamic Power Steering). We proceed to head to the dealer and they took it back in the shop to see if they could determine the problem. After a while, the service writer returned and said they can’t get into the computer to tell what is wrong and they would have to call BRP. That was on April 30th. I have called several times or stopped in several times since and have been told they have been busy, but they'd talked to BRP and were given some suggestions. It has now been 7 days shy of another month (2 months total since it was taken in for inspection).

On May 29 2025 we stopped in to see the business owner. Before we looked for him we went directly to the repair shop to see if they were working on our bike. What we found was the bike was outside with panels off and the seat propped up. As we approached the bike a bird flew out. After closer inspection we found a bird nest being built under the seat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next we went inside and talked to service writer, as he started to explain, I interrupted him to tell him what I found, showing him the photo of the bird nest being built under the seat of my bike. I told him I wanted him to get it into the shop and find the problem. His statement was we are doing the best we can, I will have it put back together and you can take it somewhere else. I then asked to speak to the owner. The talk with the owner did not get much better. He said that repairs doesn’t make him money, selling bikes and other items were what keeps the business running. He doesn’t have the help, can’t get the help. I asked why he didn’t respond to my Messenger messages or the email I sent. Here is where he said "I don’t have time" and “look, I have over 8000 emails". I asked if that was 2 years worth and his reply was “probably over a year”. Excuse after excuse. He did tell us he would get back to us by the end of the week, which would be by May 31 2025.

It is now 6:30pm 5/31/25 and no word from owner as promised. They closed today at 3PM.

I Left for Vacation June 8th returned June 20th. On June 21 we stopped at the dealership to check on our Spyder. Still not fixed and they still do not know what is wrong. I was told they had been working with BRP and are at the point they would have to tear the bike down more to further test the computer control module. BRP were not sure what problem is, but think it is the main control module. To tear the bike down just to test the control module I am told is about 6 hours work at $150/hr labor cost. If it is the main control box, that would cost $2800 to $3000 to replace, plus labor. The total cost could be around $4000.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brought the bike home 7/8/25, STILL IN LIMP MODE. The dealer said they would have to tear the bike down to do what BRP wants them to do to trouble shoot, at $150/hour, and they claim it is about an 8 hour job to do that, just to do the testing. This is just to see if the main computer is bad and check the other computers that talk to it. Then we are looking at $$$$ if it's bad, if they can get the parts. I don't trust the guy because of all the other lies about getting back to us when he never did. We had to make all the contacts. I'm in the process of checking for another repair shop to deal with now that I have it back home.
