• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rodents chose my 16 RTL as a home

The problem created by toothed residents was huge (for me!) as I got brake failure messages and low brake fluid faults along with headlights that didn't work on the right side. There we also other wires that had been destroyed, but they went to a trailer light addition which I didn't need. How in the world do I keep rodents out of the Tupperware?

I replaced a cable to the left front speed sensor on a lady friends 2017 RTL that was chewed into two pieces. Down the street from her in the Az RV Resort, another Spyder had to have the main wiring harness replaced, to the tune of thousands of dollars. I place Tap Cat's under my trikes.

There has been some previous discussion on the Forum about this.

IIRC, searching (see the top right of every page) on the word 'rodent' or 'repellent' with the 'Search titles only' box checked should bring up a few pertinent threads, check them out, have a read, see what you think of those ideas. And if that's not enough &/or you want more, simply uncheck that 'Search titles only' box and have another go. You'll likely get pages and pages more of suggestions/reading - maybe not all exactly on the sorta things you're after, but you'll find those words in there somewhere! ;)

Good luck! (y)

We discovered a mouse in our kitchen several months ago. I bought cheap mouse traps and baited them with cheese. After several days one of the traps caught the mouse. Buy two or three cheap mouse traps, bait them with cheese or peanut butter and place on the floor around your Spyder. This should take care of your mouse problem.

I use an electric battery mouse catcher. Bait inside, turn it on, Mouse goes in to eat and puts its feet on one plate and other feet on another plate and it gets zapped. Lift off the top, pour out the dead mouse, put top back on, and it's ready for the next mouse to come in to eat. It's not very big and a little light in the on-off switch blinks when it takes care of a mouse. I have 3 of them, 1 in the garage connected to the house; 1 in one the Spyder shed; and 1 in the other Spyder shed.

Then I use peppermint oil. I put a little on a cotton ball, put it under stuff where you don't want mice. I mix up some peppermint oil with some water in a squirt bottle and spray it around the tires on the motor home van. I haven't had any problems. I used the cotton balls in the pump house - they chased the mice away. No more problems any more. Every month maybe, I put out more peppermint oil on cotton balls, or pour out a little bit of oil onto a piece of wood to keep the smell in the area.

That has worked great for me, the little battery operated mouse trap and the peppermint oil - straight or mixed with a little water. I learned from my son about the cotton balls. He put them in the engine compartment on his pickup and car. There was bad rat problem in the area. They ate some wires on his truck. Used the peppermint oil and cotton balls and no more problems.

I don't use poison any more. My dog munched on a dead mouse and the poison in the mouse killed my dog. The Vet said there's no stopping the poison once your pet gets it. I picked up all the poison squares and pouches around house and barn. Do what ever you need to do to get rid of those damn mice.

I once had a Mercedes in the era of the biodegradable wiring looms.

It didn't require a mouse, they ate themselves rather prematurely.

My 2003 Beemer is from that era. Fortunately is seems to be just the outer sheath that's affected; the actual wire insulation is okay. And so far the rodents have left my vehicles alone, but I know I've just been lucky. I'm definitely going to get some peppermint oil.

For a few years now the only solution that has worked for me when I am storing 2, 3 and 4 wheel vehicles during the winter is that I surround all the tires that are touching the ground with mice sticky traps. Essentially creating a sticky "moat" around each tire. Only access for rodents to get to the particular vehicle. Have been mice free ever since.

I use peppermint oil in my CPAP machine. I have not had a mouse problem here in 15 years ,but then we do have very lazy feral cats. I know they wont chase the Magpies out of their food. They eat side by side. Since I have pepperment oil anyway, I am going to try that. If nothing else, it will make the trailer smell better.
