RPM's in the 5000

[Questions]

I just bought 2 Spyder Phantoms....Love them so much hyea: I'm just wondering one thing.... When I'm riding on the big hwy...I sometimes do 120pps: or more...anyway, it kind of freaks me out that the rpm's are so high. It sounds like the motor is going to blow... Is that normal?
I'm happy to be part of the SpyderLovers.. Can't wait to be part of the chats.

:congrats: on choosing the fastest Spyder. You have excellent taste. :2thumbs:

The Spyder have a rotax engine. Its the nature of the beast to have a higher rpm. 5k rpm is only half way to the red line. Don't worry, the rev limiter will not let the engine blow.

5000 Rpm's isn't anything to the Spyder. It's just coming alive then. :thumbup:

As far as you saying "120" is that mph or km ??? :yikes::yikes:

5000 rpm is just fine. When I'm feeling rambunctious I'll wind her out to 9000 shift, 9000 shift, 9000 shift with no ill effects except for immediately checking my mirrors for anything flashing. :yikes:

Ive done the same thing a few times. Talk about matching the heart rate to the RPM's...:shocked:

I don't think you can get 120 mph at 5000rpm. 9000rpm would be more like it. 120kph would be 75mph which is closer to reality. IMHO

Looks like kph--especially with the 5000 rpm going on. He would have to peg over 200 on the speedo in kph to equal 120 mph. The rpm's would be up there also. It was fun driving in Canada last summer, to see the speedo over 100 on a few stretches. (kph--of course)

:agree: 75 mph should be about 5500 rpm in 5th. The Spyder doesn't even come alive until five grand...go for it!
