• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RS - Throttle Lock

Has anyone found a throttle lock to put on the RS so I can at least give my right hand a break on long road trips. I used to have one on my Harley and it was great to use even if just for a few minutes. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've got a Throttlemeister, they make one for the Spyder.

I like it, although I keep goofing up the install-- I'll get it to work for a few rides, then it loosens (even with the Loctite) and stops working. That's probably just me and my sloppy install, however; others have zero problems with it.

Plus, as a perk, it deadens the bar vibration.

I installed a cruise mate. It's not the knob on the end of the throttle type. Its more like a toggle under the throttle cable housing that is operated by your thumb. It can be adjusted on the fly.

You and I are on the same page of this playbook... The CrampBuster looks very much like the ones in your post.

I use the Throttlemeister per the above link. It took awhile to get it admired properly. Once I got it right, no loosening or other issues. Likewise it dampened the vibration by at least 90%.

throttlemeister worked well for me.

I put the Throttlemeister on mine. Definitely a big help on vibration. Took 3 times to adjust it to how I liked it and worked nicely. Never had a problem with it. It can vary 5 mph one way or another if it is hilly, but it was good at getting my hands off the bars for a short time to shake them out. Again, it also made a big difference as far as vibration is concerned. I got the large stainless steel ones which weighed almost a pound a piece. Paid. $152.00.

I got Kaoko Spy-cruise from Custom Dynamics, one of our sponsors. Took maybe 15 minutes to install and adjust, and that's with Grip Puppies on the bars. Works great, looks OK, $110. I find I can operate it easily, one-handed, even with riding gauntlets on.

Nancy has a Throttlemeister. There are several similar units. ESI has one, and they are a site sponsor. A search here should show you several variations.

The throttlemeister is probably the best way to go...long track record that is very good. As far as installation...if you call them, they will lead you through it on the phone...great customer service. When I had my ESI riser bars put in, the dealership broke the mechanism of the TM...the company, for a very reasonable fee, sent me out a new one and made sure that I installed it properly...haven't had a problem with it...works perfectly!!

bik

WOW, you all are great. Thank you so much. Now I just have to start looking at the various ones and see which will go best on the bike. I already have the crampbuster and use it all the time, but need to be able to take the right hand off. So again thanks I will be looking at all of it.

Here's a pic of the "McCruise" unit. It's a beaut! It's as good if not even better than BRP's unit on the RT.

I have the MC Cruise on mine as well! This is a very nice electronic cruise control! Looks like a factory option when installed! It actually has a few more features than the factory one on the Rt's. I bought mine from spoiledbiker.com. They are very easy and nice people to deal with!

Throttle Boss

I have a Throttle Boss on my RSS that works perfectly. It was a little big so slipped a little. One layer of tennis racket wrap and no more slip. They are under $10.00.

:f_spider:I simply placed a fat "O" ring behind the edge of the grip. It provides some friction and will allow your hand a break. Be WARNED! If your used to the springing back of the throttle in an emergency this will not happen!!! I have had the "O" ring on since my 1st ride last year and I'm trained to twist both ways for throttle changes. Best part the cost is @ $0.50 at a hardward store!

Yeah, I was doing something similar with a large rubber band from the grip to my drink holder. The band finally busted and I bought the Kaoko, lol. These tricks work in a pinch, though.
