2011 RT SE5 with trailer (not the RT trailer
The wires are labeled on the tongue harness...or at least they were for the 2010 harness.
There is a pinout diagram for the 2010 harness here. The 2011 harness you purchased is different from the 2010 harness I used, and I am not sure exactly how. The type of wiring on your trailer will make a difference, too. PM me and we exchange contact information and try to work out the details.
I got a 2011 RT SE5 and bought a trailer (not a RT trailer) I read all the info on SpyderLovers and printed the RT 9 pin drawing. One of the points in the discussion was to have separate turn signal lights. I bought separate lights and wired them up. I bought the tonge harness from can am and cut off the end that goes to the trailer. I wired as follows:
Ground (black wire) to ground on the trailer
Running lignts (brown wire) to running lights (brown wire on the trailer)
Brake lights (used only on of the wires from the can am as instructed to both the turn signal wires in the trailer. I used the red wire (right brake)
right turn signal to new right turn signal
Left turn signal to new legt turn signal
That is the 5 wires that the discussion said was necessary.
the running lights worked correctly
the brake lights worked correctly
The new turn signal lights did not work at all, but both brake lights flashed when the turn signal were on in either direction.
So, I changed the wiring so that the red wire (right brake) went to the right turn signal on the trailer and the orange wire (left brake) went to the left turn signal on the trailer
Re checked and everything works except the new turn signal lights that i installed. The regular trailer lights do work as brake and turn signals however.
Using a volt meter, I checked the signal light wires from the Can Am and neither the green wire (right turn signal) or the blue wire (left turn signal) ever indicated that they were used at all.
My guess is that they changed the system and now the only wires that are used are ground (black), running (brown) Right brake (red) and Left brake (orange)
I am going to be pulling the trailer about 1000 miles over the next week. If anything happens, I will advise
