• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Trailer

Desert Spyder

I was reading the manual for my RT the other day. Couple quick questions. There is a setting for w/trailer and w/o trailer. I used to see large icons but they went away somewhere. I now have to use the settings menu and look with a microscope for the trailer entry. Hopefully at night when its easier to see. Boy it would be nice to have a larger display on these things. What EXACTLY does this setting do? The manual also says to avoid using the cruise control while in trailer mode. Why?

In general vehicle manufacturers say not to use cruise when towing a trailer. From an operational stand point and thinking generally - they don't want you trying to climb mountains in cruise control. That said, cruise control used in conjunction with an automatic transmission while going downhill produces similar results to what a Jake brake does on a semi - it will actually help hold the vehicle back. Using cruise - on flat ground - to mild pulls -while towing should not hurt anything. Just don't ask it to climb the Grape Vine or Cajon Summit.

That's my take. Some may agree and some may disagree.

Tip for finding w - wo - trailer - it's last on the fly speck menu. ;)

Edit: The large trailer icon will only appear once the Spyder is making forward progress. Then you can select it.

" What EXACTLY does this setting do? "

Setting w/trailer changes the Spyders shift points. Both - Up & Down.

I only use trailer mode on steep upgrades or just drop it into 4th. Its a pain in the butt remembering to turn trailer mode back on every time you turn the Spyder off .:gaah:

I don't have an RT but I'm actually surprised knowing brp that plugging in the trailer harness wouldn't make you select trailer mode or lock you into it especially if you were using the factory set up.
Kinda like the sensor built into the passenger seat on the RS

That surpises me, too, but then I'm sure some folks would complain that it did.

Wish it worked that way myself. It would cut down on the button pushing ;)
