• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I put the trailer wiring kit from Big Bike Parts (41-162) on my RTS last night and all went well. It was an easy way to rig your bike for a five wire lead to my Aluma trailer. The job took about an hour to mount on the bike. They were very good to deal with.
 
I ordered a set, tired of replacing BRP's module ! Hope these work , last option will be to wire direct, no module. Talked to several dealers, while traveling out west, they all said everyone has been blowing them.

Is the BRP module to isolate the bike electronics from the trailer? I had convinced myself to stick with the BRP module/wiring for warranty purposes but I may rethink this.

You really should have an isolator in the circuit. It does two things, protects the cluster from being damaged by shorts in the trailer wiring, and makes it so the trailer lights get power directly from the battery, not through the cluster. The turn signal/hazard lights are controlled by the cluster, not a usual auto type flasher. A short in the trailer wiring could cost you a cluster, which is not cheap.

There are several on the market, not just the BRP one, although you may have to do some custom wiring mods to use one not made specifically for the Spyder.

I totally agree with your thinking and planned on some type of isolation either via the BRP module or something else. Not worth the risk to the bike's electronics.

I used relays to power the trailer lights and tapped the factory wires to trigger the relays. I used a dedicated (fused of course) power and ground so everything is isolated. No need to worry about a module blowing out and if 1 relay goes bad the rest of the lights will still work. I put the relays in the trailer so either bike can pull it.
