• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

i was driving north on i 95 coming back from florida but the tornado i saw was far enough east that it looked small. but i would never want to be in the position this guy found himself in

Going across SD in the 1980's we outran a storm system that was going west to east. Black as night with funnels descending. Scared, yes. I was pushing 100 for a bit. Wide open prairie and no place to go.

:yikes: I wonder if he knew how close he came, to NEVER getting the chance to post that video?

WAY too close for comfort!

Wow..!!

He was sooooo!! Lucky to be that close to a bridge. :yikes: otherwise it was turn tail and run....:lecturef_smilie:

I've been within a mile of their passing and that's plenty close enough. He's one lucky individual. :yikes::yikes::yikes:

I have heard it said (The Weather Channel...), that bridges can actually create a venture effect; thus making a bad situation even WORSE... :shocked:
Do we have anyone out there that can confirm or dispute this?

That's probably true. I've seen videos of folks getting under and overpass and climbing up into the small space under to overhead road. I'm told that's not a good idea. Best to make yourself as low a possible. Get prone in a ditch.

Interesting note: I've lived in Kansas all my life and never seen a tornado in real life.

I've heard the same thing... crawl into a ditch, and then pull it in behind you! :D
Glad to hear that you've never seen one up close! :2thumbs:

Nine days... :yes::clap:
