Smoke from the Canadian Wildfires reaching Wisconsin - anyone/anywhere else in the lower 48?

Here in Wisconsin, the smoke is in the air from the current fires to our NorthWest. Thousands of miles from the source, it's noticeable with an obvious scent outdoors and hazy skies above.

It's hazy today in West Central Minnesota, and it's supposed to be worse tomorrow!

In checking the weather yesterday, the forecast for today called for hazy smoke after 4PM. I figured something must be burning. Heard about the Canadian wildfires on the early news this morning. There was definately something causing the sun and sky to look strange on the way home on the Spyder here in Central IL!

We had an upper level haze, but it's supposed to be moving east. Made for a pretty sunset last night in the Black Hills

We tend to make our own here in the Arid-Zone-A desert. We've had a couple pretty big ones already this season. With all the pollen and smoke in the air, my eyes and nose are constantly running.

Heard smoke stream extends far south now. It's hung over Wisconsin and at times smells like a campfire is near. Rode in this in Ontario several years ago. I came home smelling like a big sausage!

l live in Wisconsin about 50 miles north of Illinois. l noticed the hazy skies today also. l thought l was imagining it at first, when l was riding, but there's definitely a lot of smoke in the air!

Well yesterday's sunshine was blocked by the smoke from the forest fires. Simply amazing how far the smoke can travel. Never did find out what started the fires.

Right now, the smoke is absolutely the worst it's ever been here! Terrible!

All the windows are shut, of course, and the AC is on, of course. I have had, for a year or so now, two floor standing, quality (Blueair) air cleaners/filters in the house, the big filters. One downstairs and one upstairs. These filters test the air in the house and ramp up the airflow accordingly. The downstairs filter is showing that the air is normal and is running at the lowest fan speed. The upstairs filter is showing an air quality of PM1 = 12, PM2.5 = 14, and PM10 = 14 and the fan is running at a higher speed, not the highest, but higher than 'normal'. For comparison, those readings are 'normally' zero.

The filter's app tells me that the outdoor air "quality' AQI is 246! Yesterday, it wasn't quite this bad, and the filters ran at normal speed all day. For some reason today, more of this smoke is making its way into the house. Gotta be the slight breeze we have going right now.

I can't smell the smoke inside, but I most certainly can smell it outside!

We have our own smoke here in Utah. Fortunately, the Monsoon season has started, so maybe it will put a damper on the smoke and some of the wild fires. Also, since the fires have stripped all the vegetation, now we get to worry about flash flooding in the burn scar areas.

Yesterday the smoke was very bad in most of Northeast Ohio. Today, it's not as bad, but still very noticeable both visually and by smell. And it smells like burning plastic.

We have our own smoke here in Utah. Fortunately, the Monsoon season has started, so maybe it will put a damper on the smoke and some of the wild fires. Also, since the fires have stripped all the vegetation, now we get to worry about flash flooding in the burn scar areas.

So now it’s dry lightning and flash flooding season. The smoke will be back soon enough. We’re just missing an earthquake to round the season off up here on the Wasatch Front. We’ve had the all time record heat. I suppose we could have another plague of locusts. Utah never fails to impress.

Kind of interesting. My original post was just over a year ago and we have the same if not worse conditions. Bad enough in Wisconsin this past week to limit aircraft to IFR only. Seems to be gone at the time of this post, Saturday morning 7-18-2026. so I guess we'll see ya next year at this time!

We are getting the wildfire smoke here in Vermont. The air quality has been very poor today.

They have issued Unhealthy Air Quality alerts here in Vermont this past week.

We have a current Unhealthy Air Quality alert this evening, but the air quality will continue to improve, especially after midnight. There may be a brief resurgence of smoke early Sunday morning, but it's not expected to bring the air quality back down to poor levels. Thankfully, we didn't get any severe weather.


We've had unhealthy air quality all this past week here in Vermont. The skies have been hazy from the wild fires from out West and from Canada.

Here in Central VA we had noticeable smoke on Friday. I could even smell it when I walked outside.
Saturday was better, but still a bit hazy mid-day.
