Solved our Stuck Fan Relay Issue!

So, on day one of our trip, the fan relay stuck on. It happened once in Custer State Park last year, I did the tapity-tap thing, and all was good. A few days ago in Branson, the relay stuck on again, and no amount of coercion would get it to release. I pulled the relay and off to O’Reilly’s. Pictures are of the relay they matched for me. $35. Back on our way, and fans are cycling as they should.

I’m sure other auto parts stores will have it, but they were closest for us.

I think it would be good for more than the S2S models. I will post a picture of the dead relay later this week - I kept it for reference as well. That way if it happens to others, they know if the part I found will work for them or not.

Hey Mike! It was great meeting you and talking. How is that sway bar treating you? Funny thing, when I pulled up, they were going to put that bar on my bike... I had to tell them to stop and light mine up instead... I'm sure an Ultra Bar is in my future, I just have to wait for the credit card to cool down LOL.

The relay is in the right fuse bank - which is the right side as you are sitting on the bike.

Hey Mike! It was great meeting you and talking. How is that sway bar treating you? Funny thing, when I pulled up, they were going to put that bar on my bike... I had to tell them to stop and light mine up instead... I'm sure an Ultra Bar is in my future, I just have to wait for the credit card to cool down LOL.

Bar is a definite improvement. You would benefit riding 2 up and pulling the trailer. No doubt about it.

It would be more helpful to have a picture of the actual relay, its dimensions, it’s location and terminal view than just a part number.

BUT, I have a question. Not a moan and groan. But I need to learn. I am not a mechanic. In my 57 years of driving cars and my 50 years of motorcycling (Honda, BMW, Harley), I have never encountered this problem. Or failed trunk shocks. Or failed seat shocks. I love my spyder. But what gives?

Sometimes things just don't hold up the way they should for whatever reason, sometimes it's a faulty part, but everything made by man has a lifespan. Your choice of whether you go back to dealer and buy another one or find an aftermarket one is up to you! My advice is to think out of the box.

You are correct. I will just enjoy my ride rather than be overly concerned with maintenance items. The videos are great. My confidence has increased. But I still get the feeling sometimes that I will break something while trying to fix it!
