• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder RT SE5 Ltd - anyone put Kuryakyn grips over the OE Heated grips?

Has anyone changed their handlebar grips on the 2011 Spyder RT SE5 Limited with the Kuryakyn ISO #6183 grips over top of the OEM heated grips?

Yes I did that. I liked ir alot. You do have to modify the left grip so it will clear your shift paddles. You can either cut the grips themselves or cut the paddles ( the rear paddle)) I have done ir both ways and prefer to cut the grips. The heated grips could only be felt when set on high. Oh and you do have to cut the ridges off of the rubber grips that the grip ends butt up against to clear. If I remember there are a couple of youtube videos out there on doing this. I think it is a nice addition to the Spyder bar and don't know why Kuryakyn hasn't done this for us by now. There certainly would be enough demand by now.

Many thanks for your reply, so now I will go ahead and make the change, do you happen to remember if the Kuryakyn grip was # 6183, (the grip is split into two halves) with screws to close both halves?

I too have these...Don't remember the part number...But they do split in half...Like pegasus1300 said, they do require a little trimming to make them clear the paddle...I trimmed the new grip...It seems to stick in my mind that they are a GoldWing Grip, but not sure??? Do a forum search, there were many who done these...larryd

No I don't remember the part # if I ever knew. I just bought the Goldwing clamshell grips. I think I got them from Value Accessories a sponsor here.
