• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tail Light - Replacement?

Wanted - Spyder "tail light"

tail·light (tāl′līt′)
noun
a light, usually red, at the rear of a vehicle to warn vehicles coming from behind

During the last year, rear fender supports and tail light were replaced under warranty. (Faulty fender supports rotted through resulting vibration caused loss of tail light.)

Only then did it occur to me that the rear "tail light" only illuminates the license plate and facing rearward just a red reflector (rather than a red lens that would allow the bulb inside to act as a "tail light").

Discovered while repairing that the tail light assembly hardly appears to be constructed for its intended use.

The tail light cover screw is anchored by a cheap/thin piece of metal easily striped while installing. Also, easily broken, the tail light cover itself as it is only held by a thin portion of the plastic cover. (Hole center of cover holds the head of screw.)

Does anyone make a functional tail "light" replacement?

Thanks,

Ray

there is about zillion threads about tail light replacement here on Spyderlovers, just search them :2thumbs:

The search function here like on other forums isn't that great. You can end up with all kind of threads that aren't related to what you may want. Just saying..

Search "license light" You should get a variety of options. Most folks have replaced the reflector/light with a fully functional taillight/brakelight. It will probably take some modification to light the license plate. It would also take running an additional wire if you add a brakelight. Simplest solution is a trailer light from whatever your equivalent of Walmart may be.

If you want to see how much light the Kempy puts out, let me know and I'll take and send you a pic.
