There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Throttle boby issue?

In the last month or so my 2013 RT has been getting a check engine failure and turns out it has a P1614 error on the display when I checked it. I did some research and it looks like a throttle body issue. It seems this was a chronic problem on some the earlier RT's back in 2010. Has anyone else had this issue on the 2013's? When I to get this issue the check engine light comes on the display and the engine runs real rough and gets no power when the throttle is applied. So, I turn of the ignition off and try a fresh start up and everything works fine. Sometimes it takes two or three tries before this condition will clear. Has there been any recalls in regards to this throttle body issue? I just hope it can be fixed under warranty.

Throttle Body issue

I'd be calling my dealer to have them get the parts in and change that puppy out before it strands you some where!!! :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:

That's me and my 2011 to a T. Currently on 4th TB, the last 2 courtesy of BRP. I have 60 K on the meter, so that's an average of 15K per TB so far. If you are under warranty you are in good shape, it's an expensive little chunk. The check engine light and rough running is limp mode, a condition that will keep you moving along, just not too fast.
My current TB is on 158 miles, the last one went 751 miles before identical failure. BRP is well aware of this trait in the V twin RTs so the fix is straightforward. Keep us posted, the problem seemed to more prevalent in the 10s and 11s but not limited to.

Same problem with my Spyder.. The dealership rebooted my system and it was fixed.. I say reboot though im not sure that is correct term, but it didnt cost me a penny and throttle body issue was fixed, and has stayed fixed for 1 year now.. So try it, it may work..

Little checking..

That code is not only throttle body related. We recently had another member with similar issue and it seems the idle position sensor/actuator was the possible culprit. Throttle bodies have not been failing on the newer model as they did back when. The newer models with the fly by wire have more involved than the older cable operated ones. Have it all checked out cause it can get worse....

My dealer is closed on Mondays, But I'll get in touch with them on Tuesday. It sounds like I need the service done to have the throttle bodies cleaned and checked out. I'm over 20,000 miles on my RT, so I guess it is time to get it in for another service anyhow. I just had the front tires replaced and new front brakes.

I had a scheduled appointment today at my dealership to have the P1614 error resolved on my RT. It turns out that the throttle body needed to be serviced and cleaned. The service tech there was very supportive and explained what needed to be done. I also had the air filter and plugs changed, as well as an oil change. I figured it would be best to have all that service done since they had the spyder apart anyhow, especially getting the air box out to service anything under that. When all was said and done it all cost me just over $400. Not cheap , but not all that bad either and peace of mind goes a long ways. Driving home it seemed smoother. At least now I can feel better about taking it on long trips and not have to worry about it not running right and leaving me stranded some place.
